A little birdie told me you're hoping to score a new computer during October Prime Day, which is happening now through Oct. 9. And not just any laptop—a MacBook Air that checks boxes you didn't know you needed. (A Touch ID? Yes, please.) It's one of the sleekest computers you can own and quite possibly the most long-lasting (no, seriously, I've held on to mine for five years and counting). Usually, TikTok-viral items like this are a splurge—but thanks to some of the best Amazon Prime Day tech deals I’ve seen in years, this cult-favorite MacBook is marked down from $1,099 to $849. (But only for Prime members—there's still time to sign up for free if you haven't done so already.)

It'll be the best decision you make all week, so I’ll cut to the chase. With features like a 13-inch retina display, you can finally look forward to sharp, clear text and vibrant colors—a must for streamers and readers. To that end, it has an 18-hour battery life with three mics and four speakers with spatial audio (yet another excuse to binge Netflix). Yet, the real kicker is that all of the above is possible due to its M3 chip, which essentially makes the computer run as smoothly and quietly as it does. (It also features a silent, fanless design.) As for colors, you can scoop one up in midnight, silver, space gray or starlight, though I’m partial to the starlight's glam gold hue.

Yet, aside from the powerful system and stunning design, I love that the laptop is under three pounds. It actually weighs in at 2.8 pounds, which is under the three to seven-pound average, meaning it fits nicely in most tote bags for work *and* backpacks if you're surprising your kid in college.

And for anyone who cares most about the camera, the superior image signal processor is enhanced to make sure you look your best on every FaceTime call and video conference call. More specifically, it adjusts white balance and exposure to bring out your natural-looking skin tone. (Bye, bye Zoom dysmorphia.) So yeah, as one reviewer says, “The camera never fails," but more importantly, the nearly $250 discount won't fail you if you act fast.”
