Aside from having a successful magazine and two syndicated shows to her name, Martha Stewart has been crowned the Queen of Thanksgiving and the Queen of Halloween. Not to mention her stellar home-keeping skills and her eye for interior design. So, when my golden opportunity came, I asked the lifestyle expert about all things fall home decor—and even received a tip for how to throw the ultimate Halloween party for adults.

While discussing her new partnership with Pure Leaf—which, FYI, just launched limited edition Martha’s Little Helper bottles of Unsweetened Tea—the entrepreneur opened up about her favorite home decor trends for the fall season.

As it turns out, one of her recent engagements included one of her go-to decor items: festive LED lights. She said, "I made an appearance last week, and we had very beautiful and fun things that are weather-proof. You can keep them outdoors or indoors, and I think that trend is more natural. I love little LED lights that can twinkle, they can be stationary, they can rotate, have different colors. I love illuminating indoor and outdoor decorations, it just makes it more festive."

In case you need proof, back in 2021, Stewart gave fans a glimpse of her own twinkling LED lights, the shooting star, which she placed in the roof peaks of her farm buildings.

Whether you're stringing them across your backyard or hanging them in your living room area for a fall-themed dinner, they can bring plenty of sparkle to any occasion. Even better, they're energy-efficient and, unlike incandescent lights, they stay cool to the touch, making it both pet- and kid-friendly. But this isn't Stewart's only go-to trend. The businesswoman also revealed that she's a fan of wreaths.

She said, "Even window wreaths and the door wreaths can be appropriate for the autumn as well as for Christmas, depending on the materials they're made out of."

As seen above, Stewart showcased a stunning fall wreath last year. She wrote, "Equal parts farmhouse tradition and ombré obsession, this whirl of a wreath ripples from rust to beige to gold to blond."

In addition, she told me that when it comes to adult Halloween parties, it's good to have a trick or two up your sleeve. She said, "I like to do silly things for Halloween. I remember making pumpkin soup and serving it in little pumpkins, but then, just dropping in a little plastic spider, or a little cockroach into the soup, and watching the expressions on the CEO of IBM's face when he got the cockroach. I saw him take it out of his mouth and look at it, and realize it was plastic and then he dropped it on his plate."

She added, "It was worth it, just the expression on his face."

With regards to her Pure Leaf partnership, Stewart said, "I thought the promotion was fun and interesting. What I liked about it was that there wasn't just the sweetened varieties, but also an un-sweetend variety with no calories, which is what I drink. I especially like this version of the Pure Leaf. It's very good quality tea, and I know what good quality tea is."
