After years of working with New York’s top designers, I’ve learned that quality patio furnishings are expensive for a reason. When it’s done right, you’re investing in materials that are built to last: hardwoods like acacia and teak that won’t warp or fade unevenly, powder-coated metals that resist rust and heat, and quick-dry cushions that don’t mildew after one humid afternoon. That said, most budget options at Target, Amazon and Walmart skip those details in favor of lower-grade frames and thin polyester fabric that flatten fast and fade even faster. But if you know what to look for, there are a few needle-in-a-haystack finds that rival the designer markups—and don’t sacrifice on quality.

I spent hours combing through Target’s behemoth outdoor collection to find pieces that actually deliver on design and durability. Think: CB2-inspired Sedona Club Chairs with built-in teak armrest tables, the Serena & Lily–adjacent Nicolas Sofa with its breezy slatted frame and a Riviera-style Marseille bistro set that looks plucked from a Montmartre café. There’s even a luxe-looking beanbag lounger that doubles as a pool float—and a side table with a built-in cooler that could pass for Rove Concepts

So below, find the 10 best options that designers I’ve worked with would approve of (along with your bank account).

Right now, the most elevated spaces are pulling from boutique resorts and European cafés. Think: rope-wrapped arms and clean lines a la Costa Palmas, or the tailored, mocha wood frames you'd spot at Topping Rose in Bridgehampton. Outdoor beanbag loungers are also the new "it" chair for casual entertaining, and every designer I know is layering in sculptural, concrete drum tables that can withstand the elements. Everything is earthy, lived-in and bespoke enough to feel polished—a big side-step from the harsh metal frames we’ve been seeing for years.

With clean lines, wide arms and creamy, tailored cushions, this three-seater looks like it belongs in Serena & Lily’s latest lookbook. The frame is crafted from solid acacia wood, which isn’t just beautiful (hello, warm wood grain), it’s naturally resistant to moisture, rot and weather. The open slat detailing gives it a breezy, Hamptons feel, while the six-inch-thick cushions are wrapped in water-resistant fabric and stuffed with high-resilience foam that doesn’t flatten out after a summer of Aperol spritzes and SPF. I’d place this on a covered patio or a sun-drenched deck, layered with a flatweave rug and a few oversized planters—done.

Luxe-looking outdoor beanbags are the it patio chair I’m seeing everywhere right now—and this one just so happens to double as a pool float. Covered in UV-treated, quick-dry polyester and filled with Big Joe’s signature buoyant bean material, it’s impossibly lightweight yet surprisingly supportive (a rarity for anything labeled “floatable”). It comes with a matching ottoman, designed to clip onto the main seat and mimic the look of a classic club chair—and the stitched vegan leather handles make it easy to drag from the patio to the pool. Not to mention that the fabric is soft enough for bare skin but tough enough to resist fading, and the removable cover unzips for easy washing—huge if you’re dealing with sunscreen, sweat or mojito mishaps. I love this for a Palm Beach–adjacent pool deck or even on a stone patio where you want a resort feel without committing to metal frames. Bonus: The mesh base allows for instant drainage, so it won’t soak up water or mildew like the average float.

This might be the most functional $120 you’ll ever spend on your patio. At first glance, this looks like a sculptural ceramic drum table, but the swivel-top lid reveals a built-in cooler that fits up to 55 cans. It’s made from a durable concrete-plastic composite that mimics the matte look of stone without the weight—and the cooler’s double-walled insulation “works really well,” according to one reviewer. “We still had ice in it the day after our BBQ.” Plus, despite weighing 31 pounds (far less than a true stone table), it's heavy-duty enough to stay grounded in high winds—and the UV-treated exterior resists cracks, fading and general wear over time. The cherry on top? You can set drinks or snacks on the lid during a party, then swivel the top open without having to remove them when someone reaches for a cold one.

I’ve seen iterations of this silhouette popping up everywhere lately, which remind me of CB2’s $1,800 Sunset Teak Lounge Chairs. Yet, this version is hands-down the best budget alternative I’ve come across—with the added bonus of built-in side tables on each armrest (perfect for drinks, books or a citronella candle). The design is low-slung, sculptural and unapologetically cool—and the materials are surprisingly luxe for the price: thick, supportive cushions, and upholstered in a water-resistant fabric that dries quickly and wipes clean with a damp cloth. Each chair also is made from solid, rot-resistant acacia wood, which naturally holds up outdoors—no warping, no weird discoloration and no sealing required. Oh, and did I mention it’s available in two gorgeous colorways—white/teak and gray/dark gray?

The kind of outdoor chaise you'd expect to find lined up poolside at the Four Seasons Costa Palmas or outside a beachfront suite in St. Barts, this piece delivers resort-level polish without the markup. It’s crafted from premium acacia wood, finished with a protective coating that resists warping, cracking, and fading—and the frame is sturdy yet lightweight (just under 50 pounds), so you can shift it with ease from deck to lawn. The five-position backrest also reclines from upright to fully flat, making it just as good for reading as it is for sun-napping. But the real draw is the cushion: nearly four inches of breathable, weather-resistant padding that’s thick enough to feel supportive but not overly bulky. The removable cover stays vibrant in both sun and rain and wipes clean when needed.

If you’ve had your eye on Serena & Lily’s Riviera Étoile Bistro Set, this trio delivers the same Parisian charm—at one-fifth the price. With its black-and-white chevron weave, natural-look powder-coated frame, and rounded seat backs, it feels like it’s straight out of a Montmartre café. The set includes two stackable commercial-grade chairs and a 31.5-inch round table with a tempered glass top—sturdy enough for daily breakfasts or evening apéritifs. The breathable textilene weave adds airflow (read: no sweaty backs on humid afternoons), while the rust-resistant aluminum frame won’t warp, fad, or chip. Each chair holds up to 400 pounds and arrives fully assembled, and the lightweight table takes less than ten minutes to put together. Best of all, it’s designed to live outdoors but looks elevated enough to work in a breakfast nook or sunroom too.

Don’t let the price tag of this outdoor pouf fool you—it looks like something you'd find in a boutique-y Montauk rental, complete with a preppy plaid motif and a rich olive tone. It’s surprisingly structured for a piece this soft, and the 22-by-22-inch square shape makes it versatile enough to use as an ottoman, extra seat or even a side table with a tray on top. The woven cover is weather-friendly and easy to spot clean, and at just over 8 pounds, it’s light enough to move around but won’t blow over in the first summer breeze. I’d layer it next to a teak club chair or on a jute outdoor rug to break up too much wicker and add a little East Coast polish.

This rectangular fire pit features a woodgrain-inspired powder-coated iron finish that mimics the look of coastal driftwood—perfect for anchoring a space with a rustic, organic feel. Plus, it has a 50,000 BTU output, so it delivers serious warmth on cool nights—whether you're hosting friends or curled up with a glass of wine solo. The propane-powered flame lights instantly with the push of a button (no matches or starters needed), and the adjustable dial lets you customize the heat level to your preference. As for durability, it’s constructed from powder-coated iron that’s both rust- and heat-resistant, so it holds up to rain, sun and repeated use without warping or corroding. Just add a standard 20-pound propane tank (not included), pour in the lava rocks, and you’re good to go.

If you told me this set was from a designer showroom in Montecito, I’d believe you. With its handwoven rope-wrapped arms and tailored beige cushions, it has an earthy texture that creates a $4,000 look...for under $900. And that’s not even the main selling point—it’s also designed with versatility in mind. You can style it as a traditional L-shaped sectional or separate the pieces into a four-piece seating group (a layout I love for fire pit setups or when you want to open up a smaller space). The set includes one spacious three-seat sofa, a coordinating armchair, an ottoman and a square coffee table—all made from rot-resistant acacia wood that doesn’t require sealing or refinishing to stay looking luxe. The foam-filled cushions are also water-resistant and wrapped in non-porous polyester that dries quickly and wipes clean (ideal if you have kids, dogs or rosé-loving friends).

Think of this as the outdoor equivalent of a Sunday roast at the Soho Farmhouse—down to the solid wood frame, slatted detailing and clean-lined chairs you’d find on their covered dining terrace. The seven-piece set includes a 72.8-inch rectangular dining table and six cushioned armchairs, all made from durable, weather-resistant acacia wood that’s designed to hold up through sun, rain and endless Aperol spritz refills. Each chair features a wide 23.2-inch ergonomic seat with included UV- and fade-resistant cushions that are removable, washable and tied on with windproof straps. Plus, the table’s drainage-friendly design means spills won’t pool, and an umbrella hole in the center gives you the option to add shade when needed. You can choose from three neutral finishes to match your space—including gray, light teak or mocha— and it works just as well in poolside patios as it does gravel gardens. (Just note: Assembly is required.)
