The Best Farmhouse-Style Paint Trends for 2019

And while a sea of warmed-up sage tones graced the beds, baths and beyond of season 5, according to Valspar Paint senior color designer Sue Kim, a cooled-down, nearly-blue sage green will be all the rage in the months ahead. Soft, minty tones FTW. 

Hot tip: Fresh white paint is the easiest shortcut to farmhouse style. But for 2019, the trend is to move away from antiqued, shiplap-esque whites—toward pure, cooled-down tones instead. Ashley Banbury, senior designer of HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams, wisely notes that utter simplicity is the foundation for farmhouse style—and does it get more simple than a blank, paper white canvas?  

According to Erika Woelfel, VP of color and creative services at Behr Paint, 2019 modern farmhouse style is all about amplifying “the comfort factor”—which is why warm, soft grays are in such high demand these days. Channel your favorite pair of worn-in sweatpants and plaster it on the laundry room, living room or really any room. The beauty of this neutral is that it looks both cozy and appropriate in any context.
