1. The Barndominium
First up on this list is a property that basically screams, “the Magnolia crew was here!” This literal barn was luxuriously transformed into a five-bedroom, two-bathroom home that features everything from 2,000 square feet of outdoor living space and bunkbed room for kids to a "grand dining hall" that could seat an army. And yes, its design is just as impressive, with rustic natural wood accents, glossy stone finishes and updated appliances that offer an idyllic blend of old-meets-new.
2. Waco Mid Century Modern House
If you’re sick of seeing shiplap and open shelves, this mid-century modern home served as a welcome change of pace in season two, episode nine. While the four-bedroom, three-bathroom property takes a more Mad Men-centric design approach, the Gaineses still managed to work in tentpoles of their look with an open floor plan and rustic-meets-modern decor. Plus, it’s located just 15 minutes outside of downtown Waco and includes an updated nursery just off the master bedroom (if you’re planning a family getaway).
3. The German Schmear House
Perhaps you remember watching this go from dull, 1970s ranch home to eclectic, European-inspired abode during season three, episode four. And unlike those mentioned above, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom property features a more minimalist design with sprawling marble surfaces and soft, neutral finishes for an elegant farmhouse feel. Not to mention that its romantic, string-lit patio is ideal for hosting an alfresco-style dinner party during your stay.
4. Little House On The Praire
When we spoke to Kristi Bass, owner of “Little House on the Prairie” from season two, she said: “Chip and Jo did a great job transforming this home. It went from an outdated, run-of-the-mill [property] to a trendy and charming one-of-a-kind home.” The quaint, three-bedroom home features original hardwood floors, walls and ceilings with glossy finishes and new appliances for a fresh feel. And as long as the Gaineses’ style remains popular—and their ever-growing empire suggests it is—Bass affirms that there’s little reason to change up the decor. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Bonus: The Morrow House
OK, so technically Chip and Joanna Gaines didn’t design this abode, but it did get their seal of approval. On the first episode of season 5, Jo toured this home and dubbed it #TheRealFixerUpper. Five years later, the historic bungalow looks like it's been featured in Cottage Style magazine—most likely because it has. The light and airy cottage boasts three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a charming Southern kitchen that looks like it’s been plucked from the set of Sweet Magnolias. And while the Gaineses ultimately decided not to renovate this property, the home was restored by Crown Construction in 2017 (and upheld the show’s modern farmhouse aesthetic).
