This summer, I decided it was time to start a new chapter with my best friend and move into a house in the beautiful countryside for a fresh beginning. While the idea sounds like something straight out one of those friendship movies from the 2000s, the reality is that we didn’t think about important things like, you know, furniture when planning our move. Needless to say, when we realized we didn’t have one comfortable sofa for ourselves or our guests to sit on, we knew we had to get shopping immediately. Luckily for us, 7th Avenue saved the day with this fabulous armchair that I have fell in love with.

The brand is highly regarded for their range of home furniture, which includes a sizable assortment of both indoor and outdoor sectionals, sofas, loveseats and daybeds. This armchair (starting at $1,650) effortlessly blends modern elements with traditional armchair features and styling, and it’s offered in a number of fabric types including performance textured weave (natural white, grey beige and charcoal black), plus additional options like the performance classic weave section (in heather gray), and premium performance velvet (in olive green). The comfort with this chair is top-tier, as you can adjust the firmness of the back cushion to either medium-soft or medium-firm. If neither of those options work, the brand also gives you complimentary fill packets that let you customize your own firmness level. Neat, right?

This armchair (along with the rest of the brand’s products) also comes with a lifetime guarantee, and while I’ve only had it for a few months, I do believe this is a piece that, can, indeed last a lifetime (or a good percentage of it at least).

The Ordering Process

I found the ordering process to be an easy one. All you have to do is choose your fabric and seating depth. Once you’ve come to a decision, simply follow the instructions for an easy checkout, and then you’re good to go. Of note: It takes roughly six weeks for your order to be processed and shipped, which is something to keep in mind if, for some reason, you need your piece in a hurry.

The Delivery Process

The delivery process is where things can get a little complicated. Because there are multiple large pieces, the parts have to be shipped separately, which means you could run into the issue of receiving various parts of your chair on different days. This, honestly, was the only technical difficulty I had with my chair, as my parts were delivered on different days, and I had to be home to sign for each delivery.

The Armchair Deep Dive

7th Avenue

Let’s dive into the specifics of this chair, shall we? The armchair clocks in at 56" L x 47" D x 24" H and fits one person (and perhaps a little one on your lap). While it looks heavy, it’s actually on the lighter side for an armchair and easy to move around even once it’s assembled. It’s also very supportive and sturdy, and after almost two months of using nearly every day, I can honestly say this is a chair that feels better with time. As mentioned earlier, the firmness of the back cushion can be adjusted, which is a very helpful feature on my end as I’ve been using this chair mostly for work.

The covers are removable, water-repellent and stain-resistant, with PFAS-free DWR coating technology. While I thankfully haven’t had any major spills to deal with yet, I have given the covers a wash—a process I found relatively easy; all you have to do is machine-wash them under the delicate setting and air dry them. Per the brand, the fabric is OEKO-TEX certified, meaning it’s passed rigorous testing to be free from harmful chemicals that pollute skin and the environment—something that is very important to me as I try to live as sustainable a life as possible.

The Assembly

7th Avenue

The assembly process is also straightforward, taking about 15 minutes per piece. The pieces were packaged very well, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The individual seats aren’t too heavy in my opinion, so it’s not a huge struggle to unpack and put it together. I would say it took me about an hour to complete…and I’m not exactly a skilled expert in this department, so it could take you even less time.

The Bottom Line

I have always believed furniture is one of those things that’s worth the investment. And while the $1,650-plus price tag might seem expensive, it is totally worth it considering the quality, comfort and longevity of this chair. It sits nicely in the corner of my house and is cozy enough for me to sit in as I work without any discomfort (it actually might be too comfortable). It is, however, a little bigger than anticipated from looking at the picture, so I recommend measuring where you want to put it first. All-in-all, this is a great starter piece for our new home and definitely worth the purchase.
