Pumpkin spice season is upon us, even if it’s still 80 degrees where you are. And while the spice blend can be found infusing everything from lattes to trash bags, it’s far from the only autumnal treat hitting stores. As the ingredients in your weeknight dinners pivot from heirloom tomatoes and stone fruit to dishes featuring sweet potatoes, autumn squash and apples, considering filling your cart with a few other additions for this season.

After researching 60+ products hitting the market—and nearly burning my tongue off with the sting of ingesting so. Much. Cinnamon—I’m pleased to bring you 21 of the coolest, buzziest, most exciting foods and drinks hitting stories this fall, from turkey and stuffing-flavored potato chips to pumpkin spice bourbon. They’re not all fall-themed per se (for those of you who aren’t into pumpkin and apple everything), but all are worthy of your attention. Trust.

The Coolest New Foods & Drinks of Fall 2024

1. Honey Bunches of Oats Salted Caramel

honey bunches of oats

There’s no shortage of pumpkin spice-flavored things on store shelves (I counted seven types of pumpkin-y cereal on my last grocery store visit alone), but this year, I’ve been seeing more maple, honey and caramel notes across the board. Honey Bunches of Oats went the latter route, infusing its crunchy cereal with a salty-sweet flavor that’s subtle…and addictive. (And thankfully, not syrupy or sugary.) You can find it at most major grocery stores.

Consider your Halloween night dinner planned. This Aldi exclusive, available in pumpkin or ghost shapes, hits stores toward the end of September, and is all but guaranteed to intrigue kids enough to lure them away from their trick-or-treating haul long enough to scarf down a slice. The pumpkin design features marinara topped with cheddar cheese, a cheese sauce smile and mozzarella eyes.

Some bottled cold brews have a chalky finish; not so with Chameleon, which tastes as robust as if it were freshly poured from your local coffee shop. This medium roast uses organic, sustainably sourced beans and includes notes of cinnamon, clove, cardamom and vanilla. Plus, one $11 bottle will net you at roughly five glasses of cold brew, making it an affordable alternative to your fave PSL purveyor. You can find it at Whole Foods and Sprouts stores.

If you miss Starbucks’s Salted Caramel Mocha, you may want to take a closer look at Torani’s latest syrup. It features the sweet-yet-buttery notes you’d get from caramel, only with more emphasis on the buttery part, and it hits just the right salty notes to take your standard mocha latte to the next level.

Your kids inhale Veggie Straws, so why not mix things up with a seasonal-inspired twist? This Kroger-exclusive snack is vegan and gluten-free, combining a lightly sweet-yet-cinnamony flavor with a satisfying crunch.

Just when you thought Reese’s had run out of iterations on its classic peanut butter cup, the brand unleashes a riff inspired by the hottest dessert from chain restaurant menus. Bite into this super-sized peanut butter cup, and you’ll find a gooey layer of chocolatey filling. Does it rival a molten lava cake? I’ll let you be the judge.

Why wait for Thanksgiving to enjoy turkey and the fixings? Especially when you can savor it, Everlasting Gobstopper-style, in a mind-bending potato chip. Let’s just hope that after eating a fistful you don’t blow up, Violet Beauregarde-style.

If apple and pumpkin aren’t your thing, head to Trader Joe’s for this Synergy exclusive. The brand’s classic kombucha (boasting 9 billion living probiotics) is mixed with blood orange juice, cardamom and ginger for a crisp and zesty drink. Find it in Trader Joe’s stores this October.

Remember when whipped feta dip took over TikTok? Well, now you can enjoy the flavor (and texture) without having to bust out your food processor.  I was blown away by Cedar’s briny-yet-creamy dip—particularly the kalamata olive version—so much so that I’m embarrassed to admit how much I ate, alone, in a single sitting. Pair it with a crudite platter for a game day staple you’ll crave every weekend. You can find it at most major grocery stores, but it’s even easier to scoop up via Instacart.

10. Pumpkin Somethin’ Bourbon

Fireball whisky has met its match. Hotel Tango Distillery has launched Pumpkin Somethin’, aka bourbon that features notes of clove, cinnamon, ginger, pumpkin and allspice. Your hot toddies will never be the same.

Starting September 16, you’ll be able to order an autumnal version of (arguably) New York’s most famous cookie, both in stores and online. Each gooey, bigger-than-your-fist treat pairs Valrhona chocolate with ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and molasses—a combination that brings out the cozy flavors of fall without assaulting your senses (as some pumpkin-spiced desserts tend to do).

I love skyr for its ultra-thick, creamy texture—and how a single cup packs in 15 grams of protein, so I’m not starving 30 minutes later. This fall, I’ll be switching up my basic vanilla for the limited-edition pumpkin & spice blend. It doesn’t contain any artificial flavors or sweeteners, just a subtle, cinnamon-y kick. You can find it at Whole Foods and most major grocery stores.

13. Shaq-a-licious XL Sour Gummies

shaq-a-licious xl gummies

There’s nothing inherently “fall” about this new launch, but PureWow editors enjoyed these massive, sweet-tart candies so much we had to tell you about them. Each one is about an inch long and half an inch thick—living up to the “XL” name, and they’re chewy without getting glommed in your teeth. Plus, that sour coating? Shaq, I don’t know how you transitioned from basketball to candy, but I am here for it.

‘Tis the season for hard cider, and I’d be remiss not to include the tailgate staple, Angry Orchard. Each Fireside Mix 12-pack includes four styles—Crisp Apple, Natural Baked Apple Pie, Green Apple and Cinnful Apple—so you’ve got a solid variety to please everyone, whether their tastes skew dry or sweet. It’s available at most major grocery and liquor stores.

Pumpkin waffles and pancakes get all the attention, but if you prefer a less syrupy breakfast, head to the bread aisle for a batch of Thomas’s Pumpkin Spice bagels. The soft-yet-chewy balls o’ carbs are such a fan favorite that they’ve become a returning item in the Thomas roster, along with pumpkin spice English muffins.

16. King Arthur Baking Company Bread Mix Kits

King Arthur Baking Company

There's no way this came from a box mix, I kept thinking as I tore into pieces of unbelievably soft (yet chewy) flatbread. And again, as I tore into the better-than-the-mall soft pretzel nuggets. And again, as I practically inhaled the focaccia.

But that's the beauty of King Arthur Baking Company's rigorous testing: The end results exceed expectations, and the brand's latest launch is no exception. Yeast packets are included, and the mixes are a bit more work than your typical dump-and-stir situation, but oh my, are they worth it. (And they're still much faster to whip up than baking these savory breads from scratch.)

doordash exclusive magnolia bakery pudding

Magnolia Bakery's famed banana pudding just launched one seriously exclusive flavor—so exclusive, in fact, that you can only get it via DoorDash. And if you don't have the app, you better download it now, because this might be their best flavor to date. PureWow editors got an early taste, and the company's signature fluffy pudding is swirled with ribbons of peanut butter and replaces the vanilla wafers with rich chocolate cookies. It's decadent without being overwhelmingly so.

To order it, you'll need to toggle to the DashMart section of the DoorDash app, then search for "Magnolia Bakery." Add the exclusive pudding to your cart and in no time, it will arrive at your door. Easy, no?

An energy drink for people who despise the taste of energy drinks? It’s real, and it exists, people. Take it from PureWow’s Executive Managing Editor Catrina Yohay: “I'm not usually an energy drink fan (much prefer a strong cup of coffee and some fresh air if I ever need a boost) but after giving these a try, I was hooked. I love the transparency behind the ingredients and that I can pronounce (almost) all of them. Taste-wise, it's definitely sweet––so I typically save it for when I'm having a mid-afternoon slump––but it doesn't leave you with that cloyingly artificial what-did-I-just-put-in-my body aftertaste.” She recommends trying the raspberry lemon and strawberry watermelon flavors in particular, though peach mango is a close third.

Kettle corn is a fall fair staple on its own, but leave it to Angie’s Boomchickapop to take things up a notch. Its non-GMO, whole-grain popcorn gets tossed with cane sugar and fall spices, making it a delightful alternative to those cavity-inducing popcorn balls of yore.

If you're looking for a fun fall baking project to entertain the kids—that won't take up your entire weekend—look no further. This vanilla cupcake mix looks ordinary...until you start mixing the ingredients. Then they turn Galinda pink or Elphaba green, making them the perfect treat to try before the musical's November 22 release.

A PSL you can feel good about? Believe it. This gluten-free, vegan blend contains just one gram of sugar per serving—and 56 percent of your recommended daily value of vitamin A. You can mix it with water and milk for a caffeine-free latte, or add in a shot of espresso, making for a pretty versatile take on fall's most iconic drink.
