Fergie, you style queen! Right when we were completely absorbed reminiscing about the stunning butterfly-covered style you wore to the Perfect World Foundation awards ceremony last year, you step out at the same event with another mic drop fashion moment: A Safiyaa cape dress (called the “Sarita”) in a rich emerald green, $2,045. But here’s the kicker: It’s a brand and silhouette beloved by both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, too.

In fact, Meghan was the one to first introduce the London-based designer to the royal fam back in 2018 when she wore a cape dress style in a vibrant blue hue to a state dinner with Prince Harry in Fiji. The Duchess of Sussex reached for the brand a second time in March 2020 while in London for her final set of appearances as a working royal. Again, she chose a cape style—this time in an eye-catching red—for the Mountbatten Music Festival.

Fast forward to December 2023 when headlines swirled after Kate stepped out wearing a cape dress style in an elegant teal from Safiyaa to attend a Royal Variety performance alongside Prince William.

Which brings us to Fergie, who—based on her eye-catching look from last night—is proving the versatility of the brand. Her crepe emerald green gown stole the show at the honorary conservation award ceremony in Sweden last night. But also, can we all agree that there’s nothing more regal-feeling than a dress with a built-in cape? We especially love its arm-covering attributes and, in a jewel tone, it feels universally flattering. (It’s also not her first time wearing it—the Duchess of York reached for the designer earlier this summer at the 2024 Knights of Charity gala.)

But is there an easy way to weave a cape dress style into your everyday attire? We say, yes! In fact, there are many alternatives that are a hair more casual for everyday life. (See our picks below.)

As for Fergie, keep up the red carpet excellence. We’ll be watching.
