To all the summer loyalists out there: I hate to be the bearer of bad news (not really), but your favorite season is coming to a close. Leaves are turning and the air smells of pumpkin spice—telltale signs that autumn is closer than we think. With this promise of fall heavy in mind, I’ve already started thinking of everything I want to purchase for those foliage-filled days ahead. Like the Vince Camuto Sangeti Boots ($229) that all the wide-calf fashionistas rave about or this off-the-shoulder sweater dress ($110) from Eloquii. So without further ado, here are 15 items I’m shopping for this fall as a plus-size fashion editor.

Everything You Need for the Ultimate Fall Capsule Wardrobe

Quarter zips have become a year-round staple in my closet and if you ask me, they surpass regular sweaters by miles. The contrasting collar on this one from Mango is a selling point for me and I can’t wait to add it to my outfit rotation.

Ah, it’s finally leather jacket season, and while this one from Pilcro is faux leather, it still checks all the boxes for a trusty autumn-ready topper. It’s oversize, comes in this stunning dark chocolate hue and is machine washable—which is a huge plus in my eyes.

  • Materials: polyurethane-coated polyester

Oversize suede bags have already started making the rounds, and I’ve had my eye on this Madewell stunner for a while. The large crescent shape is perfect for holding all my essentials and more. Per its description, this bag can comfortably fit a water bottle, tablet, phone, wallet and keys. As someone who overstuffs their bags on the regular, I can’t wait to add this beauty to my arsenal.

  • Materials: 100 percent leather

I’m a mock neck enthusiast, and proud of it. I’ve never been a fan of full turtlenecks, as they can sometimes be stifling. But mock necks provide enough comfortability and the look of a turtleneck to get the job done. This versatile fitted dress from J. Crew is a best-seller and I can see why. It comes in three neutral colors—a natural beige, a dark brown and this black shade—and can be dressed up or down. It’ll be great for those unpredictable days in fall when summer’s weather decides to reappear.

Fast Facts

  • Size Range: XXS to 3X
  • Materials: 92 percent cotton and 8 percent elastane

I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve been eyeing these boots for years. As someone with wide calves, perfectly sized knee-high boots are hard to come by. But as someone who also pays attention to what others are rocking for the season, I can say that these boots come highly recommended by fashion lovers with calves like mine. Every fall, I see several TikToks praising these boots, and this year may just be the time when I hit purchase.

Fast Facts

  • Size Range: 5 to 12, also available in narrow, medium and wide calf
  • Heel Height: 2.8 inches
  • Colors: 5

This cropped number from ASOS is designed with faux suede and the chicest cream shearling lining. And I’m going to let you in on a little secret: ASOS has some of the best outerwear options—especially in plus sizing. I’ve purchased several coats from them over the years, and they’ve kept me warm (and stylish) as the temps dropped. While I don’t foresee myself wearing this one during winter, I trust it’ll be the perfect piece to throw on before stepping out on busy days.

Fast Facts

  • Size Range: L to 3XL (roughly a US 12/14 to 24/26)
  • Materials: 100 percent polyester

Batwing tops are very underrated, IMO. They provide a bit of added room around the arms, which I appreciate. However, it was one Anthro reviewer who convinced me I needed this top more than anything. They write, “In love with this take on a button-up. Pilcro produces this best wing striped top. Lightweight and breezy.” Along with their straight-to-the-point review, they added an image of themselves wearing the top styled with olive cargo pants and the cutest beige-colored clogs. Purchasing this blouse was a no-brainer.

  • Size Range: 1X to 3x, also available in standard and petite
  • Materials: cotton

Sometimes all you need is a good sweatshirt, particularly for cozy nights cuddled on the couch. I’m not going to pretend that I spend most of fall running through pumpkin patches and sipping PSL. The majority of the season is spent on my sofa rewatching Practical Magic for the hundredth time, bringing me back to this sweatshirt from H&M that I know will be perfect for days spent lounging around the house.

Fast Facts

  • Size Range: XS to 4XL
  • Materials: 60 percent cotton and 40 percent polyester

Slim-fit cardigans are so versatile. Over a crisp white tank, tied around the shoulders—the styling options are endless. And I’m not the only one who thinks so. “This sweater is very soft and the fit is so flattering,” writes a reviewer. “The color is a nice chocolate brown that will be a great piece that can be worn with a silk blouse, or with a tank and jeans.”

  • Size Range: 1X to 3X, also available in standard and petite
  • Materials: 50 percent rayon, 30 percent polyester, 20 percent nylon

I’ve seen a handful of TikToks featuring these clogs and I’m convinced that I need them. They seem a tad more elevated than the average clog and I’m not unfamiliar with the lore surrounding Dr. Marten's shoes—they can withstand practically anything, and that’s just what I need. These sturdy mules are crafted from suede and have an adjustable strap around the ankle, so they won’t be going anywhere as I sport them for days on end.

  • Size Range: 6 to 12
  • Colors: 5

FYI, miniskirts aren’t just a warm-weather staple. In fact, nothing screams peak fall fashion like a mini paired with warm tights and your fave loafers. I mean, if we aren’t striving for the Rachel Green look during the season, did we even do fall right?

Fast Facts

  • Size Range: US 14 to 24 (also available in US 0 to 12)
  • Materials: 100 percent linen

Eloquii has a decent amount of fall finds to choose from and I keep coming back to this sweater dress in particular. I’m especially drawn to the off-the-shoulder neckline and the coordinating buttons down the center. Thanksgiving feels like a lifetime away, but I already know what I’m wearing to the dinner table.

Fast Facts

  • Size Range: US 14/16 to 30/32
  • Materials: 50 percent polyester and 50 percent nylon

I didn’t get a chance to join in on the beaded bag renaissance that emerged this summer, but after seeing this espresso martini iteration during a bit of scrolling on Anthropologie’s site, I won’t be resisting it any longer. This isn’t exactly a piece suited for everyday wear—depending on who you ask—but I do see myself wearing this on autumn nights out on the town.

Fast Facts

  • Materials: glass beads, cotton lining

There’s no such thing as too many black dresses, right? I’m obsessed with the twisted shoulder straps on this maxi, which you can switch up to your liking. You can keep them asymmetrical like above or push them down to make it fully off the shoulder. Either way, it’s a stunning going-out dress for plans I have yet to make.

Fast Facts

  • Size Range: XS to 5XL
  • Materials: 62 percent modal, 34 percent polyester, 4 percent spandex

I adore a good pair of loafers, and I’ve been on the hunt for a trusty brown pair to add to my collection. I recently discovered these beauties on Amazon in a desperate search, and its positive reviews have convinced me to add them to cart. I’m already debating if I should get more than one color.
