Wimbledon is upon us and, while of course I miss seeing Kate Middleton in the royal box, I’d like to make the case that her oh-so-stylish mum, Carole, is absolutely holding court. How so? By dreaming up a summer-friendly uniform that’s elegant and easy breezy—but mostly one we’re all quite eager to emulate. The ingredients required are simple: a floral flock (like this dress from ME+EM, $545), a cropped blazer (Carole’s exact blazer is also from ME+EM, $495) and neutral sunglasses (Carole chose this pair from Izipizi, $70). It’s true: The weather in London lately has been decidedly cooler than it’s been in the United States. (*She types while enduring a 97-degree day in NYC.*) But, depending on where you live, I love the effortlessness of Carole’s easy layers. A lightweight dress is ideal for when the heat is on, but a cropped jacket is the ultimate option to stash in your bag whether you’re sitting courtside for a tennis match or navigating a chilly day when the A/C is cranking at the office.
In Carole’s case, it’s the waist-length and tailored fit of her jackets that really make her ensembles sing. Of course, I’ve got my eye on her choice of dresses (for her first appearance, she wore this Cefinn ‘Irina’ Bias Cut maxi style; for her second, she wore a silk cotton petal dress from ME+EM, both subsequently sold out), but I’m currently searching high and low for a fitted jacket.
