  • Best Buy: Best Buy's Black Friday sale runs from until November 30. Best Buy stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but the app and website will be available to shop. There are also extended store hours, which can be checked locally. Best Buy also is holding a Cyber Monday sale running December 1 to 2 with major savings on gadgets from top brands, including Sony and Nintendo.

  • Macy’s: Macy’s early access Black Friday 2024 sale started on November 14. During this sale, shoppers can find deals on top-rated toy brands, including 20 to 60 percent off LEGO, Discovery Kids, Toys “R” Us and more.
  • Target: Through December 24, Target has brought back its Deal of the Day, dropping one-day deals for members of Target Circle, which is free to join. Additionally weeklong deals will be announced every Sunday, and shoppers can pick up Target’s weekly ad to preview upcoming sales.

First and foremost, I recommend checking out our Happy Kid Awards. PureWow editors spent hours talking to parents and researching the newest and best-selling kids products on the market. From there, they reached out to therapists, teachers, bookstore owners and other experts to get their recommendations.

“After researching toys and attending toy fairs this past year, it seems 2024 is all about sensory play and interactive toys that blend the digital and physical world,” reports PureWow Vice President of Editorial Candace Davison. “On the sensory front, squishy toys, like Jelly Blox, Nee Doh and Speks Gump Balls reign supreme, and in terms of interactive toys, I’m seeing kids go wild for fresh takes on gaming, like Bitzee, Nex Playground and Holobrite Pixie Lantern. That said, there are some tried-and-true classics kids love every year, like Picasso Tiles, Stomp Rockets and friendship bracelet kits (the Rainbow Loom is great for beginners).”

Best Building Blocks

1. PicassoTiles Magnet Building Tiles

PicassoTiles

  • Age Range: 3 years and up

This building set has limitless construction options, where kids can scale their creations to any size by adding more pieces. It includes 100 colossal building blocks, which per the brand, will help children develop strong skills in identifying colors, geometric shapes and 3D forms, as well as counting, magnetic properties and architectural design.

For the Foodie

2. Play-Doh Ice Cream Truck

Play-Doh

  • Age Range: 3 years and up

The Play-Doh pizza truck made the rounds this year, but with the Ninja Creami going viral, I think it’s safe to play your bets on this ice cream truck, too. Summer comes full force, even in the dead of winter, with the life-size kitchen and 27 tools required to whip up even the craziest ice cream creations. From a soft-serve machine to a sprinkle maker, candle molds and cash register, your kiddo is ready to open for business. To make their ice cream, there are 12 tubs of Play-Doh at their disposal, which they can transfer into the scooping station for a real-life experience. And, naturally, it’s not an ice cream truck without the classic jingle.

For the Architect-in-Training

3. Stix Brix Springs

Maisonette

  • Age Range: 8 years and up

Yeah, yeah, the Barbie Dreamhouse is still at the top of everyone’s wish list, but maybe the kid in your life has more…refined taste that doesn’t involve neon pink. (Or, honestly, you just want to avoid an eyesore.) They could also just be a budding architect or Polly Pocket fan. (The perfect for those pint-sized dolls.) This model home is just the ticket, designed to replicate the iconic architecture of Palm Spring in all its midcentury modern glory. It’s an ideal activity for a crafty youngster, as they’ll have the opportunity to build, paint and decorate the home, complete with big aloe plants and a swan for the front yard under swaying palm trees.

For the Board Game Nerd

4. Monopoly: Elf

Macy's

  • Age Range: 8 years and up

The only thing better than a round of Monopoly is a round of Elf-themed Monopoly. Because if a sibling is really scheming to bankrupt everyone (I can personally attest to this ruthless archetype), you might as well go to the poorhouse with someone who’ll make it scantly more cheerful, if only because he’s pouring maple syrup on the pasta rations. Instead of the traditional Monopoly board, players will find custom tokens and locations based on the beloved film.

For the Puzzle Lover

5. Perplexus Portal

Spin Master Games

  • Age Range: 8 years and up

According to PureWow Editor-in-Chief Jillian Quint, the Perplexus Portal is a popular request among the kids in her life. I mean, it does have nearly 10,000 reviews and an average 4.7-star rating, so there’s a lot to love. For starters, it totally reminds me of a pinball machine. It also comes in tons of colors, and the 150 obstacles will keep any kid busy for hours as they guide the ball through 50 magic portals that unlock a bevy of challenges. And the fact that it’s screen-free? Even better.

For the Friendship Bracelet Enthusiast

6. Cool Maker PopStyle

Cool Maker

  • Age Range: 4 years and up

Whether or not they’re a Swiftie, kids these days are *obsessed* with friendship bracelets, Davison reports. Cool Maker’s PopStyle kit includes 56 glitter, inset gem and silver gem beads to create three friendship bracelets. When used with the PopStyle Bracelet Maker, they won’t have to fuss over threading, clasps and knots because the contraption constructs the jewelry for them—simply pop your desired beads on and off.

Best Doll House

7. Barbie Dreamhouse

Mattel

  • Age Range: 3 years and up

Since Barbiecore is a trend we can’t seem to get enough of, we’re diving head-first into Barbie’s ultimate pool party Dreamhouse. It has a three-story slide with ten areas to explore—and it even includes a pet paradise with a puppy slide and pool. Not only does the top floor transform into a sleepover space for four dolls but it also comes with more than 75 accessories, so you can customize every space from the kitchen to the bedroom.  The best part? It’s fully equipped with lights, sounds and a working elevator to make the house as life-like as possible.

Best PlayStation Deal

8. Sony PlayStation 5 Gaming Console

Sony

  • Age Range: 8 years and up

Thanks to this PlayStation’s ultra-high-speed SSD, games load in a blink, and the whole player experience is immersive with haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and 3D Audio. The PS5's unique integration also allows gamers to pull data from the SSD, so they can design their own unique games in real-time. Bonus: It has stunning graphics with near-instant load times for installed PS5 games.

Best Nintendo Deal

9. Nintendo Switch Gaming Console

Nintendo

  • Age Range: 8 years and up

This Nintendo Switch bundle offers endless gaming options, and it comes with a console, a charging dock and two red and blue Joy-Con controllers. It offers a solid 4.5 to 9 hours of gaming (around 5.5 hours for Zelda enthusiasts, games sold separately) and it acts as an all-in-one gaming companion that you can use on the move or at home. That’s because it can shift from a home console to handheld mode and supports three play styles–TV, handheld and tabletop. Detachable Joy-Con controllers also offer versatile gameplay options, and you can connect up to eight systems for local multiplayer games. Add to that the fact that the multitouch display features bright, high-definition gameplay, and the bundle supports amiibo accessories for extras in compatible games, and well, let’s just say your kiddo will be plenty entertained.

Best Kid's Play Makeup

10. Klee Naturals Swirl of Glee Makeup Kit

Klee Naturals

  • Age Range: 6 years and up

Tweens might be obsessed with Sephora, but the products aren’t exactly tailored for them. (Tell me, what 12-year-old should be slapping glycolic acid and retinol on their face daily?) That’s where Klee Naturals comes in, with a blush, eye shadow, lip shimmer and natural perfume that’s safe and appropriate for young beauty neophytes. The formulas are non-toxic and mineral-free, created by a fellow mom on a mission to make safe play makeup and tween cosmetics.

Best Game Room Addition

11. Sugift Combo Game Table

Sugift

  • Age Range: 8 years and up

If there was ever a time to build out a real game room not overrun by TVs, PacMan and PS 5s, it’s now. This three-in-one game table promises hours of entertainment with foosball, air hockey and billiards, plus built-in score recorders to keep tabs on all the action. Included are all the accessories required to play, including a box of billiards, hockey pucks and cue sticks. And when it’s time to clean up, the tables stack neatly on top of each other in a space-saving configuration.

Best Baby Toy

12. Cute Stone Walker

Cute Stone

  • Age Range: 10 to 18 months

Sit-to-stand walkers were one of PureWow readers’ favorite educational toys, and Amazon’s Black Friday sale includes this well-loved little number. It comes with a detachable activity panel featuring a shape recognition block, electronic organ, rattle and basketball hoop. An anti-slip, adjustable handle can be customized to your baby’s height as they learn to pull themselves up (and maybe take a few tentative steps). The wheels are equipped with soft rubber rings that increase friction to help control walking speed—no runaway babies here.

PureWow VP of Editorial Content, Candace Davison, recommends picking up this toy for the little one's this season. "The Yoto player has been a top-seller on Amazon this holiday season, and for good reason: This tiny storytelling device is like a kids' Walkman, only it uses what looks like playing cards to retell stories ranging from nursery tales to the Harry Potter series. It's a compact, screen-free way to entertain kids—especially if you're traveling around the holidays. You might want to give 'em this gift early!"
