You know it’s gotta be action packed

A throwback Tom Cruise film has made its way to the top of Netflix’s charts nearly a decade after its premiere. The film: Jack Reacher Never Go Back.

This 2016 action-thriller, based on Lee Child’s 2013 novel Never Go Back, sees Cruise back as Jack Reacher, the ultimate Army Military Police investigator. He teams up with an Army major who's been framed for espionage, and together they uncover a dark conspiracy. Cobie Smulders also stars in the film.

If you’re a Reacher fan, you probably know this is the sequel to the 2012 movie Jack Reacher, based on Child’s 2005 novel One Shot. It stars Cruise diving into a homicide investigation involving a sniper and a mass shooting.

Both of these Tom Cruise-led Reacher films dropped on Netflix on August 1. By Sunday, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back has already snagged the number two spot on Netflix’s Top 10 most-watched movies in the U.S. The original film, Jack Reacher, also made its way into to the Top 10 at number seven. But wait, there’s more.

Lee Child’s novels have also been adapted into a series on Prime Video called Reacher, starring Alan Ritchson. With two seasons out, the first one is based on Child’s 1997 debut novel Killing Floor, where Reacher is wrongfully arrested for murder in a small town but teams up with honest cops to bust a local conspiracy.

Season two pulls from Bad Luck and Trouble, with Reacher reuniting with his old MP unit to avenge a murdered comrade. And heads up: season three, inspired by Child’s Persuader, is on the horizon.

While you wait for that, there’s a ton of other binge-worthy content on all the streaming platforms. Check out these recommendations from our PureWow editors to keep you entertained, the 70 best summer movies of all time or even these must-watch Apple TV+ shows.

Happy watching!
