This Intense and Bizarre Thriller Just Hit #1 on Netflix—and Its Rotten Tomatoes Score Is Spot on

What in the world did I just watch?!

Each week, my fellow PureWow editors and I deliver the top 15 movies and shows to watch. And each day, Netflix updates its list of top shows and its list of top movies, meaning that there is always new content to stream. On the top ten movies roster right now? Tom Hanks's Here is sitting at number five. Cameron Diaz's new action flick is parked at number two. And at number one is a great (but bizarre) horror/comedy/thriller starring Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy, The Menu.

My honest review? It's definitely worth the watch, but prepare to scream "WTF?!" at the television.

Netflix's description of the 2022 film reads, "A couple travels to a remote restaurant for a dinner hosted by a renowned chef whose menu turns out to be a fusion of dark spectacle and raw terror."

Taylor-Joy plays a member of the "couple" and Fiennes is the "renowned chef" here. Both are fabulous in this cat-and-mouse thriller (they were each nominated for Golden Globes for their roles), but they're only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the cast. The film also stars the amazing Janet McTeer, John Leguizamo, Judith Light, Nicholas Hoult and more.

I don't want to ruin the experience by giving anything else about the plot away, but trust me when I say it's as weird as it is terrifying. And just wait for that wild surprise ending. [insert mind-blown emoji here.]

But I'm not the only one who recommends the flick. The Menu is "certified fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes, with an impressive 88 percent rating (a score that is well-deserved). A few quotes from fans of the film: "incredible film on so many levels," "a fantastic film thriller/dark comedy," and "I've actually seen it 2-3 times."

Check The Menu out on Netflix now—just don't say I didn't warn you about that ending...
