Watching award-winning actor Denzel Washington play a sheriff in a serial killer flick (that has been number one on Netflix’s top ten movies list for an entire week) sounds like an entertaining night to me.

The film I’m referring to is the 2021 crime thriller The Little Things, which follows Deputy Sheriff Joe "Deke" Deacon (Washington) as he joins forces with detective Jim Baxter (Rami Malek) to track down a quick-witted serial killer who’s terrorizing Los Angeles.

While the recently added crime thriller currently sits at number one, the film is followed by Happy Gilmore, Glass, The Tearsmith, Baby Driver and Scoop.

The Little Things was first released in theaters and then made its way to Max (formerly known as HBO Max). While the movie received mixed reviews upon its release, the cast did receive praise from critics. For example, Jared Leto’s performance earned the actor and musician nominations in the Best Supporting Actor categories at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Back in February 2021, The Little Things director John Lee Hancock sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the film’s jaw-dropping ending. I won’t say too much about the movie’s conclusion, but apparently it’s quite shocking.

During the interview, Hancock shared that he wanted the ending to have that certain level of shock value. “I always felt there would be a section of the audience that would prefer a very formulaic ending and there's nothing wrong with that,” he told EW. “I wanted to try and do something that was different.”
