If you’re on the fence about pressing play, here’s a little nudge: Director John Lee Hancock revealed some intriguing details about the film’s jaw-dropping ending (don’t worry, no spoilers here).
In a February 2021 chat with Entertainment Weekly, Hancock said, “I always felt there would be a section of the audience that would prefer a very formulaic ending, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I wanted to try and do something that was different.”
Initially released in theaters, The Little Things later hit Netflix and has been climbing the ranks ever since. It even snagged the top spot on Netflix’s movie list for a solid week earlier this year, beating out heavy hitters like Happy Gilmore, Glass and Baby Driver.
But Olivia’s role in The Little Things is far from her first rodeo. She honed her craft at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and scored her first role in Lee Daniels’s 2013 film The Butler. Since then, she’s racked up credits in hit shows like Empire and Chicago P.D., and has taken on more substantial roles in projects like The Tragedy of Macbeth and the 2022 film Breaking—which, fun fact, was co-produced by her sister, Katia, and starred John Boyega and Nicole Beharie.
