If you (like myself) tore through both seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer and can't wait for more, then you’ll be pleased to know that season three is coming soon.

From the cast list to the release date, here’s everything I know about The Lincoln Lawyer season three (including the one character who will be noticeably absent).

1. When Is The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 Release Date?

The entire third season will hit Netflix on—drumroll, please—October 17. Given that season two was such a hit (it claimed the number one spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched shows within a matter of days), fans are hoping the new installment lives up to the hype.

2. What Is The Lincoln Lawyer About?

The story is based on the book series by Michael Connolly and 2011 movie starring Matthew McConaughey. It follows a former addict and lawyer named Mickey Haller (played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the series), who operates out of the trunk of his eponymous Lincoln Town Car. The first season was based on the second book, The Brass Verdict, since the film was inspired by the first. Per Deadline, this new season will have ten episodes, based on the fifth novel, titled The Gods of Guilt.

Connolly's fifth book in the series follows Haller as he takes on a murder case. The victim, it turns out, is his own former client he thought he had saved from a life of prostitution. Since the third season of The Lincoln Lawyer is only inspired by the book, I can't say how closely it'll follow all the details—but I’m sure Haller will have the reckoning of his life.

3. Who’s in the Cast of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3?

In The Lincoln Lawyer season three, most of the main cast will return, including:

  • Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller
  • Jazz Raycole as Izzy
  • Angus Sampson as Cisco
  • Becki Newton as Lorna
  • Yaya DaCosta as Andrea Freeman

Elliot Gould (David "Legal" Siegal), Krista Warner (Hayley Haller) and Fiona Rene (Glory Days) will also appear, along with Devon Graye (Julian La Crosse) who is now a recurring character.

4. Is There a Trailer?

In the trailer, Mickey is rattled by the events in the season two finale, and he’s determined to get to the bottom of Gloria’s death. “This was personal,” he says.

The further he gets into the investigation, the more vulnerable he becomes. “We are walking into some very dangerous territory,” Lorna adds.

In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez revealed that The Lincoln Lawyer season three is one for the books. “This one is personal, because it’s a client that he actually really cared about and thought she had gotten out of that life and out of danger,” Rodriguez said. “Mickey very much is [wondering], ‘Did he have something to do with this? Could he have done more to help her?’”

5. What's Going on with Maggie?

You may have noticed that Neve Campbell, who plays Mickey Haller's ex-wife, Maggie McPherson and Los Angeles' deputy district attorney, is missing from the cast list. Screen Rant speculated that there were scheduling conflicts, though an official explanation wasn't provided. However, the good news is that Maggie will appear in season three via flashback scenes, which could set the couple up for further reconciliation in future seasons.

"While Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer is based on Michael Connelly’s novel The Gods of Guilt, we decided that a fun (and poignant) way to come into the season would be via a flashback sequence that gave us some insight into how Mickey Haller became Mickey Haller—not just the brilliant criminal defense lawyer but the husband, the father and the man that he would come to be," co-showrunners and executive producers Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez told Deadline.

"There is no comparable flashback in the book, so we devised something that would also serve as a fitting introduction to the story of the season, both on a plot level but also emotionally. These images, of a young Mickey finishing up surfing before a life-changing day at work, as well as cuddling on the couch with his wife Maggie after putting their young daughter Hayley to bed, are from a pair of these flashback scenes that bookend the first episode and propel us into the rest of season three."

Guess I’ll just have to watch and find out.
