Last night, Bachelor Nation fans eagerly tuned in to The Bachelor season 28 finale on ABC to see who Joey Graziadei would give his final rose to. With a surprising twist and a history-making announcement, it’s safe to say that this latest installment of The Bachelor was well worth the watch.

In a shocking turn of events, Daisy Kent walked away from Graziadei during the final rose ceremony because she felt his feelings for Kelsey Anderson were much stronger. After Kent and Anderson rode in the same car together to the final rose ceremony (a Bachelor first), Kent went on to tell Graziadei that they weren’t meant to be together. Then, she hugged Anderson goodbye and Graziadei went on to pop the big question to his final choice (!!!).

Fast forward to the After the Final Rose show. During the segment, host Jesse Palmer asked runner-up Daisy Kent if she was ready to become the next Bachelorette, to which she replied that she is “not ready” to step into such a big role.

“I’m healthy and I’m happy. I haven’t had those two things in a really long time,” Kent told Palmer, according to US Weekly. “And so right now, I know it’s a time for me to focus on the things I love and the people I love. And so right now, no, I’m not ready. And that’s OK. And I’m really proud of myself for realizing that.”

So, the lead role was given to...Jenn Tran. The Bachelor contestant will be the first-ever Asian Bachelorette in the beloved franchise.

In response to becoming the next Bachelorette, Tran described the feeling as “surreal.” She said (per ABC News), “It’s so surreal to be passed the baton from Charity Lawson [former Bachelorette] who is sitting here today with the person she found in all of this, and it's honestly so inspiring.”

Be sure to set a reminder: Tran’s season of The Bachelorette will premiere sometime in July.
