‘White Lotus’ Season 2 Star Joins Season 1 Star for New Horror Film

Sydney Sweeney, 25, and Simona Tabasco, 28, may have starred on two separate seasons of The White Lotus, but it looks like these two will still get the chance to work together on screen.

Per a press release from Deadline, it was just revealed that the two young actresses will join forces for a new psychological horror film, titled Immaculate. According to the site, the movie follows Cecilia (Sweeney), “a woman of devout faith who is offered a fulfilling new role at an illustrious Italian convent.” The rest of the synopsis reveals: “Her warm welcome to the picture-perfect Italian countryside is soon interrupted as it becomes clearer to Cecilia that her new home harbors some dark and horrifying secrets.” Details of Tabasco's character have yet to be revealed.

We're already noticing similarities to the plot of The White Lotus—the main character traveling abroad, dark and sinister secrets. However, because the film is being billed as a “psychological horror,” we're betting that it's going to be a little more frightening than White Lotus.

Immaculate will be directed by Michael Mohan, who has directed such films as The Voyeurs (which also starred Sweeney) and Save the Date. Meanwhile, the script is being penned by Andrew Lobel (Mysteries Unknown). Other cast members will include Giorgio Colangeli, Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli and Dora Romano.

The Italian-born Tabasco recently made her international debut on season 2 of The White Lotus, where she received acclaim for her performance from sources like CNN. This will be her first big role following her portrayal of Lucia in the HBO drama.

Meanwhile, Sweeney is also known for her parts in Euphoria and The Handmaid's Tale. For her performance as Olivia Mossbacher on The White Lotus, she received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

We can't wait to see this film.
