Suits ended its run in 2019. But when the legal drama, featuring Meghan Markle, was added to Netflix and Peacock in 2023, it received a major surge in popularity. With folks’ renewed interest in the show, we weren’t shocked when we heard a spin-off was in the works. And now, we know who the lead is going to be: Stephen Amell.

He will star in NBC’s Suits L.A. as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who now reps powerful clients in Los Angeles, reports Deadline. To save his firm, he must take on a role he rejected his entire career, all while past events that led him to leave his old life behind and everyone in it bubble to the surface.

Amell is known for his roles in CW’s Arrow and the Starz wrestling series, Heels. He’ll also appear in a Netflix movie he produced, Code 8: Part II.

According to Beatrice Springborn, the President of Universal International Studios and UCP, the spin-off is aiming to match the “same energy” of the O.G. “We are working on it right now. It’s so fun and happy,” she told Variety in December.

That said, don’t call Suits L.A. a revival or a reboot; it’s rather an extension of the Suits universe, created and written by Aaron Korsch, with new characters in a new setting, similar to CSI.

We’re betting fans will flock to watch the newest iteration of the series, given that the original became the first show to ever rake in 3 billion minutes viewed for seven consecutive weeks on Netflix.

Of the series’ newfound fame, Markle, who played Rachel Zane, told Angelique Jackson of People, “It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit...But it’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it. But good shows are everlasting.”

Production for Suits L.A. is scheduled to begin in Vancouver next month.
