Squid Game is back and gorier than ever.

Netflix just dropped the first official trailer for Squid Game season two, and even though I know what to expect, it doesn’t make the footage any less traumatizing.

In the eerie trailer, Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) re-enters the game as Player 456 after winning in season one. He is at an advantage because he’s already played and, therefore, knows what to expect.

Of course, he also has ulterior motives. Not only does he want to convince the other players to exit the game, but he also wants to end the madness once and for all.

“Don’t do this to yourselves,” he says. “Just focus on getting out of this place.”

This doesn’t sit well with the game master, so I expect Seong to be punished in due time.

Back in 2021, Netflix announced that Squid Game had been renewed for season two. The announcement wasn’t a huge surprise, since the first season was so successful. The survival drama, which follows a group of players competing in deadly children's games for a cash prize, became Netflix's most-watched show debut, drawing in 111 million viewers in its first month alone. The series went on to win six Emmy Awards, three SAG Awards and a Golden Globe.

Squid Game season two will hit Netflix on December 26, just in time for a post-Christmas binge-watching session.
