It’s been nearly two years since School Spirits dropped on Paramount+—and let’s just say fans are getting a little (okay, maybe a lot) impatient for season two. But good news: new episodes are on the way soonplus, there are a number of shows like School Spirits to hold you over.

If you’re new to the show (or just need a refresher), here’s a quick rundown—no spoilers, promise. School Spirits is a supernatural teen drama based on an upcoming graphic novel. It follows Maddie, a teen girl who’s stuck in the afterlife, trying to solve the mystery of her own disappearance. As she adjusts to high school in the afterlife, she uncovers more secrets than she bargained for.

The series stars Peyton List, Kristian Ventura, Milo Manheim and Spencer Macpherson (and if those names sound familiar, here's why). Season one dropped in March 2023, and just three months later, the show was renewed for a second season.

In October, Paramount+ released the first teaser for season two, confirming that it’ll be available to stream in early 2025. While that's not an official release date just yet, that does leave plenty of time to rewatch season one (again) and dive into some other shows to fill that School Spirits void.

So, without further ado, here are 10 shows like School Spirits.

1. Cruel Summer

  • Maturity rating: TV-14
  • Number of seasons: 2

Cruel Summer ticks all the same boxes as School Spirits—teens? Check. A mysterious disappearance? Check. Drama and suspense? Double check.

2. Sharp Objects

Two local girls are missing—one already found dead under mysterious circumstances.

The series flips between their time in the wild and the messy, lasting impact it's had on their lives as adults in 2021.

The younger cast includes Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher and Sammi Hanratty, while Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis play the adult survivors, finally revealing the brutal truth about what went down 25 years ago.

5. Nancy Drew

  • Maturity rating: TV-14
  • Number of seasons: 4

Like School Spirits, nothing says mystery, drama and thriller quite like Nancy Drew. In this series, Nancy Drew is determined to put her detective days behind her and move on, until a local socialite is murdered and she becomes a prime suspect. 6. Ghosts

  • Maturity Rating: TV-14
  • Number of seasons: 4

Looking for a show like School Spirits but with a comedy flair? Check out Ghosts. In this series Samantha, a bubbly freelance journalist, and Jay, her chef boyfriend, decide to go all-in on a crazy project: turning a giant, crumbling estate they’ve inherited into a bed and breakfast. The catch? The place is fully haunted by a hilarious lineup of ghosts.

From a sassy Prohibition lounge singer to a self-important 1700s militiaman, a chill ’60s hippie and a way-too-peppy ’80s scout leader, the ghosts are already stressed about the reno, but they’re completely thrown when they realize that Samantha is the first living person who can actually see and hear them.

7. Julie and the Phantoms

  • Maturity Rating: TV-G
  • Number of seasons: 1

8. Ghost Whisperer

  • Maturity rating: TV-PG
  • Number of seasons: 4

But despite the doubts, Melinda knows that when she’s able to help both the spirits and the living, her gift is more of an asset than a curse.

9. One of Us Is Lying

  • Maturity Rating: TV-MA
  • Number of seasons: 2

Based on Karen M. McManus' best-selling novel, One of Us Is Lying is full of twists and suspense. No spirits here, but there is a murder to solve when five students from Bayview High end up in detention and only four walk out alive. One of them is dead, just as he was about to spill some huge secrets on a gossip app.

Bronwyn, Addy, Nate and Cooper all had the chance and their own reasons to kill their classmate, but they each claim they're innocent. Now, the big question is: which one of them is lying?

10. A Good Girl's Guide to Murder
