If you've Googled fan theories about Teddy's fate or spent hours contemplating what's next for Simone on Grey's Anatomy, then perhaps it's time for your streaming queue to get an upgrade. Or, more specifically, to include a few binge-watch shows like Grey's.
According to Deadline, the ABC drama got renewed for a 20th season in March 2023, further expanding its record as the longest-running primetime medical drama. So far, we know that the upcoming season will be the first to not feature Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) as a series regular, although she'll continue to serve as an executive producer and do voiceovers.
Pompeo told Variety, "It’s a little bit of trickery, because I’m not completely gone...Meredith’s character left to go to Boston because her daughter needed to go to a special school. I will be making some appearances hopefully next year, if I can find some time."
She added, "It’s not a complete goodbye. And I think we’ve got an interesting story to tell."
