It quickly rose to the top

Move over Old Dads, there is a new raunchy comedy topping Netflix’s top ten movies list, and it goes by the name of No Hard Feelings.

It’s only been a few days since the 2023 comedy—which stars Jennifer Lawrence—premiered on the streaming service. And it didn’t take long for the racy comedy to skyrocket to the number one spot, knocking Old Dads down to the second slot.

Directed by Gene Stupnitsky, No Hard Feelings follows a young woman named Maddie (Lawrence), who is struggling to keep her childhood home. Strapped for cash, she comes across a job listing posted by two wealthy parents, claiming to pay anyone who will date their shy and socially awkward 19-year-old son, Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman).

Before arriving on Netflix, the comedy film debuted in theaters everywhere on June 23, 2023. Despite receiving a 71 percent on Rotten Tomatoes (with an 87 percent audience score), No Hard Feelings received criticism from viewers and critics alike due to the co-stars’ large age gap and some nudity.

In an exclusive interview with Sky News, Lawrence shared that she knew the film would draw criticism, saying, “Everybody will be offended by this film.” The Hunger Games alum added, “I think it’s time for a good old-fashioned laugh and it really is hard to make a comedy where you’re not offending people. Everybody in some sense will be offended by this film—you’re welcome.”

Alongside Lawrence and Feldman, No Hard Feelings features an ensemble cast filled with names you’ll probably recognize, such as Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Cable Guy), Laura Benanti (Younger), Natalie Morales (Dead to Me) and Hasan Minhaj (Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj).

On the other hand, Old Dads, which stars Bobby Cannavale (Spy), Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo) and Bill Burr (Breaking Bad) and which is at the number two spot on Netflix, centers around three middle-aged best friends juggling fatherhood in addition to their careers and home life.
