But it isn’t often that we get a peek into the star’s family life. That’s why we took note when she posted a rare photo of her daughter to her Instagram stories recently.

The photo shows her daughter, Katherine, riding some kind of bike or scooter with a bunch of pink and silver balloons attached to the back in what appears to be a backyard. “Kindergarten here we come!” Kaling captioned the photo.
We haven’t seen a pic of Katherine like this since summer 2019, when Kaling shared a photo of the two of them in matching sparkly silver sandals. “Got these little @ohjoyco pons sandals for me and Kit. Glitter is our aesthetic,” she captioned the pic.
Does Mindy also have a full-sized scooter so they can hit the streets together in matching fits? We sure hope so.
She followed the photo with a shared post from Kolkata Chai Co., which shows a meme featuring Poorna Jagannathan, who plays Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar on Kaling’s Netflix show, Never Have I Ever. The meme shows a photo of Jagannathan’s character on the left making a serious face and the text, “Watching chai being made” above it. On the right is a photo of her smiling and the text “After the first sip of real chai” above it.
