Katherine Heigl Says Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss & Christy Turlington Inspired Her 'Firefly Lane' Fashion

If you’ve been lucky enough to maintain a decades-long friendship, then you already know that one of the best perks is looking back at old photos and seeing the plethora of fashion trends, from blue eye shadow to low-rise jeans. 

On Netflix’s Firefly Lane, Kate and Tully experience just that as they navigate the ups and downs of friendship. And according to Katherine Heigl, who plays Tully, those flashback sequences were a major highlight while filming. She told PureWow, “It was really fun. As a girl who loves hair, makeup and wardrobe, this was like a dream come true, to get to dive into three or four different decades.”

Heigl and her co-star, Sarah Chalke, served up some memorable looks from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and early aughts. But Heigl was especially intrigued by the ’90s. She said, “We really didn't dive into the ’90s until season two. And I have to say, that was probably my favorite. I don't know why, except the ’90s don't feel like a particularly important time in fashion.” 

The actress, who recently launched an ArtWare project, revealed that she took inspiration from Pinterest boards. She was particularly inspired by three famous stars: Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford and Kate Moss. 

She said, “I did a lot of Pinterest [research] to try to get inspiration for the ’90s because I just didn't have any of my own. I was there, but I was a teenager. I don't remember what we were wearing. And I didn't know what a woman in our 30s would be wearing.”
