Will There Be a ‘Holidate’ Sequel on Netflix? Here’s What We Know So Far

*Warning: Spoilers ahead.*

So you've already watched Netflix's newest holiday rom-com, Holidate (complete with plenty of wine), and you found it thoroughly entertaining—or at least entertaining enough.

No, it's not the kind of Christmas film that you'd watch with the entire family, but still, you enjoyed those raunchy punchlines. Emma Roberts shined as the sarcastic Sloane and Luke Bracey brought all the charm as Sloane's love interest, Jackson. But now, you can't help but wonder: What's next for these two? Will their relationship last? And more importantly, can fans expect to see this play out in a Holidate sequel on Netflix?

Read on to see what we know so far about a possible Holidate 2.

1. What Is ‘holidate’ About?

Just in case you need a refresher, the film follows Sloane and Jackson, who've had to endure a few holidays from hell because of judgmental family members and awkward dates. When they finally cross paths and bond over their shared experiences, they agree to be each other's platonic date for every holiday celebration. But of course, over time, they eventually develop feelings for one other.

2. So, Will There Be A ‘holidate’ Sequel On Netflix?

Netflix has yet to announce a Holidate sequel. But according to the film's writer, Tiffany Paulsen, if it does happen, then things will pick up from where they left off in the first film (Spoiler Alert: At the end, Jackson whisks Sloan away to his home country of Australia for New Year's).

She told Vanity Fair, "Don't you think Holimates is just a cute title? Holimates: Holidate Down Under."

Paulsen revealed that, ideally, she'd want to show how Sloane is adjusting to Australia and Jackson's family. She continued, "I know exactly what that story will be and how we would explore it. I’m certainly hopeful. We hope that people love it and want to see more of this relationship. I think there’s so much more to explore with Sloan and Jackson, because they’ve barely dated. They go on 11 dates in a year, and there’s a lot to see where this goes. So we’ll cross our fingers."

3. Could ‘holidate’ Become A Trilogy?

Considering the platform's other successful holiday trilogies (like A Christmas Prince and The Princess Switch), eager fans might be thinking that Netflix will follow suit with this new film. Though there's no word on a part two or three, it's entirely likely, considering that the first film landed at the top of Netflix’s list of most watched movies.

Either way, it's safe to say that fans are ready to see more of Sloane and Jackson.
