An Exclusive First Look at Netflix’s Brand-New Family Film, ‘Finding 'Ohana’

Move over, Christmas movies. There’s a new family film coming to Netflix and we have exclusive first-look photos.

Called Finding 'Ohana, the film tells the story of two siblings who connect with their culture on an unexpected adventure to Hawaii.

The official synopsis reads: “A summer in rural Oahu takes an exciting turn for two Brooklyn-raised siblings when a journal pointing to long-lost treasure sets them on an epic adventure with new friends and leads them to reconnect with their Hawaiian heritage.”

Written by Christina Strain and directed by Jude Weng (Young Sheldon and The Good Place), Finding Ohana stars Kea Peahu, Alex Aiono, Lindsay Watson (The Wind & the Reckoning), Owen Vaccaro (Daddy’s Home), Kelly Hu (The Scorpion King), Ke Huy Quan (Second Time Around), Kyndra Sanchez (Marry Me) and more.

The flick marks Peahu and Aiono’s acting debuts and, according to Variety, it was “very important for Netflix to find a cast of predominantly Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders, even if it meant finding a lot of newcomers for the large ensemble.” (We love the commitment.)

Unfortunately, Finding 'Ohana won’t be released on the streaming service until January 29, 2021. However, lucky for us, we’ve got a sneak peek at some stills from the film. Keep scrolling for an exclusive look.

Looks like we’ll be swapping snow and freezing temperatures for warm Hawaiian beaches.
