Zendaya & Josh O’Connor Star in Steamy New Trailer for Tennis Movie ‘Challengers’

Zendaya (26) is channeling her inner Serena Williams for her upcoming movie, Challengers.

MGM just released the first official trailer for the romantic sports drama, which stars Zendaya (Euphoria), Josh O’Connor (The Crown) and Mike Faist (West Side Story) as up-and-coming tennis players. The film documents the trio’s journey as they compete to become grand slam champions, all while navigating their shady love triangle.

The story follows three athletes—Tashi (Zendaya), Patrick (O’Connor) and Art (Faist)—who have known each other since they were teenagers. Both men are enamored by Tashi, who has a promising career ahead of her.

“She’s going to turn her family into millionaires,” Patrick says in the trailer. “She’ll have a fashion line, a foundation.” Art adds, “You were incredible today. I mean, it wasn’t even like tennis. It was an entirely different game.”

Years later, when Tashi and Art run into Patrick at a tournament, they’re reminded of their complicated past. “It’s nice to see you lit up about something,” Art tells Patrick. “Even if it’s my girlfriend.”

According to the official logline, the movie “follows three players who knew each other when they were teenagers as they compete in a tennis tournament to be the world-famous grand slam winner and reignite old rivalries on and off the court.”

Challengers will hit theaters on August 11.
