So, Have You Started Using Anti-Aging Foundation Yet?

I’m one of those people who used to sleep in her makeup. Oof, I know, it’s cringey. But that was years ago, and I’ve since R&D’d a skincare routine that has become so engrained in my day-to-day that I’ve come to truly enjoy the ritual. But most notably, along with my skincare discovery journey came a greater understanding, and thus, appreciation of, anti-aging products.

To sum up what I’ve learned: They’re absolutely not meant only for the already-aged. In fact, the earlier you start using products with anti-aging ingredients, the better—a super important yet little regarded fact. Prevention > cure, people.

Why exactly? Well, because as early as your 20s, your skin begins to slow down collagen production. Collagen is a protein in your body that keeps skin soft, smooth and firm. When those levels lower, combined with external factors like sun damage, signs of aging start to appear. We’re talking wrinkles, fine lines and discoloration. But there are ingredients that boost collagen and keep skin looking youthful, like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and everyone’s favorite—vitamin C.

But here’s the thing you really need to know: There are more ways than one to incorporate these ingredients into your routine. Through serums and moisturizers, sure, but you should also be using makeup products that are infused with skincare to reap the benefits from all angles. It’s the exact reason I use COVERGIRL Simply Ageless 3-In-1 Liquid Foundation, even though I’m only 30. That, and did you know that COVERGIRL products are officially Leaping Bunny-certified by Cruelty Free International?

The first time I used the foundation, I noticed a difference from other formulas immediately. It had no chalk-factor to it and the coverage was smooth without being heavy. I have dry skin, so anything that accentuates that is a “no” from me. This formula did the exact opposite, making my skin look fresh and moisturized instead.

Since that first time I tried it on, I have yet to be disappointed. In fact, it’s replaced my previous concealer-tinted-moisturizer combo. Approaching each makeup application with a different grievance (one day I had pretty dark circles, another day a zit popped up, a different day I was a little dull and had some flakiness), I still got the same results each time: A slightly blurred, super even complexion that didn’t accumulate or crease in any of the usual spots. I looked like me—just more awake, well rested and generally better TBH.

I attribute it all to the exact reason I started wearing it in the first place: Those skincare ingredients we talked about. Here’s a rundown of what’s in the COVERGIRL Simply Ageless 3-In-1 Foundation:

Hyaluronic Complex: A binding ingredient that helps retain skin’s moisture content, keeping it hydrated, plump and healthy looking.

Vitamin C: A potent antioxidant that can neutralize toxic free radicals while maintaining collagen levels in the skin.

Niacinamide: Aka vitamin B3. It boosts radiance and strengthens skin’s protective barrier function.

While I love makeup and a flawless finish, I’m really all about prevention. And by starting to use harder-working, anti-aging formulas, the plan is to stave off fine lines and sagginess for a few extra years. So far, it’s worked. Friends of mine have already started spotting creases that won’t seem to budge. But me? My laugh lines bounce back, baby.
