Rare Beauty has become a staple for many due to its best-selling products and, well, Selena Gomez. But if there’s one product that absolutely deserves a spot in your makeup bag, it’s their Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil.

What’s So Great About Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil?

Pros

  • Lasts all day
  • It’s hydrating
  • Noticeable tint
  • Never sticky
  • Comes in eight shades

Cons

  • It’s always sold out
  • See above

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil is basically a lip gloss that provides color and hydration without the tacky texture. The pigment is noticeable, but the formula (which is made with jojoba and sunflower seed oil) isn’t drying, so you’re left with a shiny tint that lasts.

The most noteworthy thing about the lip oil is its unique jelly texture and juicy finish, which looks like a gloss but isn’t sticky in the slightest. When you apply it, it transforms into a lightweight oil that keeps your lips hydrated all day long. We also appreciate the subtle minty tingle it offers.

The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil comes in eight shades: Serenity (warm rose), Affection (muted berry), Happy (cool pink), Joy (muted peach), Delight (rose brown), Hope (nude mauve), Wonder (rose mauve) and Honesty (nude brown). I’m partial to Joy, but each one pairs beautifully with the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush.

The only problem? It’s difficult to get your hands on a tube of Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil, let alone in the shade you want. Ever since it launched in March 2023, the product has been flying off shelves. And every time it gets restocked, it sells out within a matter of hours at Rare Beauty and participating retailers (like Sephora and Kohl’s).

This leaves you with two options. You can either 1) wait for Rare Beauty’s next restock (which is expected sometime this month) or 2) keep scrolling for our list of alternatives to try in the meantime.

If you’re looking for a subtle lip color, Ilia will be right up your alley. The tinted gloss is made with hyaluronic acid to not only plump your lips but also provide long-lasting hydration. And it has meadowfoam seed oil (just like Rare Beauty’s lip oil).

This product uses a combination of hydrating oils—including apricot kernel, raspberry seed and rosehip—to form a non-sticky gloss that rivals Rare Beauty. The gloss comes in 12 shades.

This one is ideal for anyone who prefers a less saturated pigment, but plenty of shine. While the texture is slightly thicker than Rare Beauty, it feels plush and downright luxurious on your lips.
