Whether you're on a budget or not, spending $200+ on a single beauty product seems pretty outrageous and therefore requires some serious thought before taking the plunge. Case in point: the new Augustinus Bader Retinol Serum that launched on April 4 and costs a whopping $350.

We know: Bonkers. That said, it seems promising, with its stellar 30-milliliter vegan formula designed to tackle skin problems like acnewrinkles and collagen deficiency.

In a nutshell, Professor Augustinus Bader, the brand's co-founder, explains, "The Retinol Serum is a powerful synergy of pure, therapeutic retinol—known to gently yet effectively accelerate cellular turnover—with our high-performance proprietary TFC8 technology. Working together, the formula optimizes the body's natural capacity for self-repair for skin that is measurably refined and restored without discomfort or redness.”

Specifically, the product is packed with pure retinol, a microbiome blend, marine ectoine, a zinc complex and Japanese knotweed extract. It's also combined with the brand's proprietary Trigger Factor Complex (TFC8) technology, which powers all its products. (Yes, including the Rich Cream we use to get glass skin). And together the ingredients reportedly work to reduce and prevent signs of aging and blemishes while also hydrating and strengthening skin and regulating skin enzyme activity, among other things, to make your face look and feel more youthful.

If you've used retinol serums before then, you know what they can do. But if you don't, all you need to know is that they're the gold standard of anti-aging, which—according to the women who swear by them—makes them worth every penny. And according to testers, Augustinus Bader's product retinol serum begins to work its magic in one week by improving skin texture and reducing the appearance of blemishes. Then by week 12, they saw fewer fine lines and wrinkles. But overall, they said the serum lifted, tightened and firmed their skin and delivered a can't-miss glow.

Worried you’ll blow through it faster than the money that just exited your wallet? Well, the 30-milliliter amount should last you a while since you only need a little bit each night on cleansed skin to reap its benefits.

Of course, you won't experience any of this unless you try it first-hand, of course, so we'll leave you to it.
