Cannabis-Infused Wine Is Now a Thing

You’ve heard about cannabis beauty products and THC-laced olive oil, but now there’s a brand-new weed-infused product on the market, and we have to admit that we’re intrigued. Introducing the world’s first marijuana-infused wine.

Now, if the idea of mixing booze and cannabis sounds like a bad one, well, you’re probably right. But this Sauvignon Blanc from Rebel Coast Winery is actually alcohol-free, meaning it gives drinkers a slight buzz without the risk of a hangover.

As for the wine’s tasting notes and aroma? Apparently nothing like your college dorm. Instead the wine “has high acid, with bright citrus and a crisp clean finish.” Which basically sounds like your standard, deliciously zesty Sauv Blanc.

According to the makers, the amount of THC (the compound responsible for marijuana’s psychoactive effects) in the wine is not particularly high. “After one glass, you won’t be thinking your couch is a hippo with short legs or anything,” they explain. “We set out to mimic the experience you’d find with traditional wine; a couple glasses will put most people in a great place.”

Curious? A bottle of the 2017 Marijuana-Infused Sauvignon Blanc will set you back $59.99 and is currently only available for delivery in California, although the winery plans to offer it to other states where recreational use of marijuana is officially legal (like Colorado, Maine and Washington) in the next few months. Cheers.
