2 Things You Should Never Say to a Virgo (Unless You’re Looking to Kill an Hour or Two)

An astrologer explains why

Virgo, our mutable earth sign, is often generalized as “practical” or “orderly.” But really: Virgo is the end-of-summer-harvest season and back-to-school time. Virgo isn’t a tidy list or a well-curated stack of books. Virgo is the rush to get school supplies and turn those gorgeous end-of-summer tomatoes into a sauce that will last all winter. Preparation requires action, and Virgo knows that action sometimes gets messy.

Like all mutable signs, Virgos are highly adaptable and flexible. Despite their somewhat unforgiving reputation, they really can take the heat. But that all being said, if you’re not looking for a long-winded explanation or a mountain moved for you, there are two things you should never say to a Virgo.

1. “I’m so frustrated with _____.”

Here’s the thing: if you’re frustrated and looking to actually solve a problem then Virgo is the perfect person to go to with all of your frustrations. What I’ve learned as an astrologer—and as a person who listens to others (a rare skill!)— is that most people aren’t looking for help, they’re looking for a place to vent their problems. Virgos don’t have time for venting, especially if they see a very easy solution to whatever your problem is. I always say that Virgos will move a mountain for those they love and then insist that it was nothing. If you don’t want a Virgo to move a mountain, don’t make a molehill into one!

2. “I’m so curious about _____.”

Listen, if you’re genuinely curious about one of Virgo’s special interests or hobbies, go ahead and ask away. Get ready for a long-winded response though! Virgos are ruled by Mercury, and like fellow mercurial sign Gemini, they can talk. Virgos have an amazing attention to detail so if you ask about music, they’ll tell you their favorite artist’s entire discography, and if you ask what they ate recently, they’ll go into detail about all of their recipe testing. Virgo wisdom is rare beauty but if you zone out or interrupt them, they’ll take note and you won’t get any hot tips in the future.
