The 3 Most Gullible Zodiac Signs (and 3 Who Rarely Fall for a Lie)

Every year you create a wild scenario to distract your best friend from the surprise party you’re planning for her. Every year, she falls for it. She might be naturally trusting, but maybe she’s actually astrologically predisposed to fall for everyone’s whims. With that, we’d place our bet that she’s likely a Pisces, Libra or Aries. According to astrologists, these are the three most gullible zodiac signs, plus three who aren’t as easily fooled.

Known for feeling all the feelings—theirs, yours, the dog’s—it’s Pisces’ empathy that sometimes gets in the way of their logic. “Pisces tend to have a compassionate and understanding approach toward people. As a result, people can easily take advantage of their nature,” explains Raquel Rodriguez, founder of Your Zodiac. “Their desire to please others and their trusting nature can also make them gullible, as they may be more likely to believe what others tell them without questioning it.”

These folks will readily open their wallets for that inconspicuous organization with a strange email address claiming to feed the homeless or that unidentifiable sender trying to raise money for a mission trip to Africa. If they sense a smidgeon of distress abounds, Pisces will want to do all they can to make the situation better.

This water sign also loves a good fantasy, so they may find themselves enchanted by a “wealthy Nigerian prince” who happens to swipe right on Tinder. Psychologist and astrologer Matthias Dettmann confirms, noting that Pisces are known to be dreamers. They’re also quick to forgive, seeing and trusting the good in others, even if subjected to multiple transgressions.  

“Many would probably not have expected Libra in the list of naive zodiac signs, but scales can also be quite [gullible],” Dettman says. Libras value harmony, and thus will often act as a mediator when conflict arises. While this trait often benefits everyone involved, it can make Libras susceptible to deception. “Libras assume that everyone wants peace because they want it themselves. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.”

Charlotte Kirsten, founder of Typically Topical, explains that the desire for harmony can turn into an obsessive need, which is where this sign can be gullible. “Libra will do just about anything to maintain peace, including sacrificing their own logical instincts. If they sense even the tiniest amount of distress, they’re quick to open their hearts (and wallets!) to just about any cause that *looks* like it’s tackling a form of injustice.”

Fiery Aries is known to leap without looking, charging headfirst. This recklessness engenders gullibility, particularly in love. “If they fall in love, they will not listen to anyone except their lover. [They] ignore their instinct,” says psychic reader Emily Newman.

“Aries is literally blinded by love,” Dettman elaborates. “No matter how many alarm bells ring and how clear the signs are that something is wrong with the new partner, Aries doesn't care at this moment. [They] then behave very naively and hold on to the thought that [they] have found a partner for life. Even warning words of friends are interpreted by] Aries as envy and not as well-intentioned advice.”

“Capricorns are the epitome of responsibility and are the least gullible zodiac sign. Known as the father of the zodiac, the level-headed sea goat works tirelessly to maintain structure and order in any setting and always knows when something sketchy is happening,” Kirsten says.

With their practical life approach and penchant for the safe and steady road, Capricorns are rather risk-averse and know something’s off, even from miles away. “You won’t find them participating in spontaneous or reckless activities or making spur-of-the-moment decisions, that’s for sure. Predictability is Capricorn’s best friend,” Kirsten adds.

Rodriguez also shares that Capricorn’s practicality makes the sign less likely to be swayed by emotions or manipulation. “They tend to be very analytical and logical in their thinking, which can help them see through false claims or promises.”

Naturally untrusting with a proclivity for suspicion that borders on paranoia, Scorpios are always on the prowl to unmask troublemakers. They are renowned investigators and queens of interrogation, so liars beware. “Scorpios are known for their deep intuition and ability to read people's intentions. They tend to be very observant and can see through dishonesty and deception,” Rodriguez notes. “They are also known for their probing and investigative nature, which can make them excellent at detecting lies and uncovering the truth.”

These shadow dwellers are notoriously intuitive and love to have the upper hand, so they’re capable of sniffing out conmen in the midst before they even reveal themselves. Scorpio’s skepticism doesn’t stem from malice, however. It’s more of a self-preservation tactic.

“For fear of being hurt, the water sign often keeps its distance and is suspicious of many things,” Dettmann says. “Only when everything has been analyzed in detail and the worst case has been ruled out, Scorpios can relax a bit and are ready to get involved with something or someone new.”

One thing you cannot do is come to a Virgo without having your facts straight because this icon of perfectionism will over-analyze a situation to death before they fully commit. Scammers claiming they can turn $100 into $10,000 are in for a world of trouble if they think Virgo will buy into it. This highly patient, ultra-practical earth sign will fact-check, do their due diligence and ask for balance sheets before deciding. Too many loopholes and red flags that aren’t adding up, and Virgo is out the door.

“Virgo does not trust easily, Newman says. “[This sign] has good observation and analytics skills, so they often quickly identify people's intentions. It is hard to make a Virgo a fool.”
