3 Signs That Will Tell You If You Have Lipstick on Your Teeth (and 3 That Would Never)

Coming back to a social life after the peak of the pandemic and lockdown still feels awkward sometimes, doesn’t it? For years now, there’s an almost constant sense of “getting back to it” when it comes to going out. A year plus of sweatpants and Netflix really wrought some havoc on our collective social skills, and also our ability to get dressed and put on a face to go out. Now more than ever, it seems inevitable that you’ll show up to an important work meeting, bestie’s rehearsal dinner or a meet and greet with your favorite artist with lipstick all over your teeth. The silly dilemma that can happen to everyone yet still feels so embarrassing. That’s why it’s always good to have that friend (or coworker, or sister, or kind stranger on the bathroom line) who will notice and immediately shout, “go like this!” while grinning and rubbing her teeth. 

Here’s our take on the zodiac signs who have no problem letting you know you have lipstick on your teeth (or that your skirt is tucked into your tights), and the signs that will let you take a photo looking like a clown.

Truly bless Aries! The first sign of the zodiac, Aries approaches life with an almost childlike wonder. (Think about it: Aries celebs like Martin Short, SJP and Mariah Carey never seem to age, right?) As a bold fire sign, a ram will interrupt your conversation with someone else the moment they notice your lipstick is smeared or that you have an eyelash stuck to your cheek. Though sometimes their blunt POV can get them in trouble, it’s times of crisis like this when their lack of filter is deeply appreciated.

Methodical, organized and borderline perfectionist Virgo finds nothing more soothing than systems, order, and everything being in its right place. Lipstick on your teeth is an example of something not being in its right place and Virgo has no problem giving you notes to make sure you look your best. What you might not appreciate is their relentless advice after the fact about how you can avoid this faux pas in the future, but their help in the moment is not to be taken for granted.

Like Aries, Gemini have a childlike sense of curiosity and lack of filter. Geminis also don’t get enough credit for being very keen on the details. It might seem like their attention is fleeting, but they’re always very aware and can spot when something’s out of place in their periphery. The most socially savvy of the signs who will tell you exactly what’s off about your outfit or makeup, Geminis let you know with a wink and a nod so that you can laugh about it after the fact.

It’s not that Pisces want you to look like you just gulped a big glass of red wine in your sister’s wedding photos, it’s that they’re often certain that someone else already told you. Pisces have a bad rap for being flaky or spaced out, but the fish among us actually tend to be overthinkers! Sensitive to others’ ebbs and flows, they spend so long trying to find the gentlest way to break the news that by the time they figure it out, it’s often too late.

The first thing to know about Aquarius is that they always know exactly what’s going on in every social situation that they’re in. Whether they’re in the thick of the action or observing from the corner, their eyes and ears are attuned to everything. The second thing to know about Aquarius is that they won’t share their thoughts unless they’re absolutely certain they’ll be heard. So though Aquarius might tell you about that stain on your shirt or sticker stuck on your jeans, if you’ve ignored them in the past, they’ll definitely let someone else do that dirty work.

Sagittarius is known for their certain joie de vivre (read: sense of chaos), and in most social situations, they’re too busy bouncing around to slow down and pay attention to details. You might have a whole long chat with your Sag friend at a party where they fail to mention the lipstick on your teeth, and as soon as you move to a different circle with your Virgo friend you find out right away. If you confront the Sag afterwards, their response might be anywhere from, “I didn’t notice” to “I thought it was funny.” Both are true.
