We’ve got another specialty full moon coming up on September 24, and this one is neither flower, nor blood, nor strawberry, nor sturgeon (did you forget about the sturgeon moon already?). Nay—this is the harvest moon.
What is it?
The harvest moon is simply the name given to the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox. It’s the pumpkin spice latte of lunar events, not least of all because it will look bigger and more orange than other full moons. It used to function as a reminder to farmers to gather their crops, and now it’s just a gorgeous complement to the beginning of cuffing season.
This year, the harvest moon peaks on the 24th at 10:52 p.m. ET, but it will start to be visible much earlier than usual, right after sunset. That will also be true in the nights leading up to and following the 24th. In other words: lots of occasions to Instagram this stunner.
What else?
The harvest moon will be in Aries, thus spotlighting any concerns about relationships. Expect to feel a tug-of-war between independence and partnership as you find yourself reevaluating the value of your closest relationships. If there are any weak links, the harvest moon will make them very clear. Then it’s up to you to make a choice.
