A craft cocktail and a comfy stay

W Boston

As a New Yorker, one of my favorite long weekend trips involves a quick jaunt up to Beantown (aka Boston).

And now that I've stayed at the beautiful W Boston hotel, smack dab in the middle of the Boston action, I know exactly where I'll be staying for all my subsequent visits.

With large rooms, a fun lobby bar and plentiful amenities, W Boston gave me just the relaxing and enjoyable experience I had been hoping for.

The Room

My room at W Boston was super chic and surprisingly spacious. There was plenty of room for my partner and I to spread out and make ourselves comfortable.

And speaking of comfort, the bed was incredible—the ideal balance of supportive yet soft. As I've come to expect, the bedding was extremely luxe, making it difficult for us to force ourselves out of bed in the morning (luckily, W Boston's front desk was more than willing to accommodate our request for a late checkout).

The room also featured a large bar and stocked refrigerator setup, with liquor, drinks and snacks galore. Of course, they aren't complimentary, but the prices are reasonable enough that I didn't mind caving to the in-room temptation.

The Bar

One of the best parts of my visit was spending time in W Boston Lounge (the hotel's lobby bar and restaurant). Though the bar was bustling, there was ample seating so I was able to sidle up to the bar to enjoy my expertly made cocktail (in this case, a cosmo). The bartenders were extremely friendly, striking up a conversation immediately.

The lobby bar was quite cool and trendy. I would even recommend locals pop in for a drink or light bite as part of a night out on the town.

The Amenities

In a very uncharacteristic move for me, I visited W Boston's gym during my stay—and it was clean, spacious and state-of-the-art. There were plenty of machines so I could get my cardio on. And there was plenty of equipment on the weight lifting and strength training side as well.

As a bonus, the gym features a flavored water machine (where you can even add a free vitamin boost to your water) and complimentary fruit.

There's another flavored water machine in the lobby (you can't say W Boston didn't keep you hydrated), in addition to a very friendly concierge who was eager to answer any and all of our questions.

As I mentioned, the rooms all feature the signature W Mix Bar, as well as a multi-purpose desk, complimentary bottled water, a coffee and tea maker and a hairdryer.

The Location

W Boston really is in a fabulous location. For those coming up from New York via Amtrak (like I did), the hotel is just a short walk from the Back Bay train station.

It's also extremely close to some of Boston's biggest hot spots. Boston Common, Newbury Street's shopping area and Copley are all walkable. And if you're looking for a little waterfront time, the seaport is a quick cab ride away, as is Faneuil Hall Marketplace.

Without question, I'll be returning to W Boston next time I'm in town.
