I guess you can call me a tech girlie now because I got all the tea on Samsung's latest products at the 2024 Galaxy Unpacked event. But of all the brand's buzzy new devices, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is the one I can't get off my mind (or out of my hands). And guess what? It's finally available for purchase, and trust me, you're going to want to trade in your old phone for it. Believe it or not, it's got nothing to do with the fact that you can save up to $1,200 if you buy it with a trade-in RN. Simply put, the foldable device (which offers *double* the screen space), is way ahead of its time. Even my Apple iPhone 15 doesn't stand a chance. Thinking of upgrading? Here's everything you need to know about the new phone, which is powered by Galaxy AI and has a high-resolution camera (for the best selfies, like, ever).

Pricing

I don't know about you, but whenever I buy a new phone, I want to know how much it costs before anything else. That said, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 starts at $1,900 and goes up to $2,260 depending on storage capacity. Here's the full rundown (including the massive trade-in offers that reduce the price of the phone when you trade in an eligible smartphone or tablet):

  • 256GB: $1,900, or as low as $700 with eligible trade-in, with Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and U.S. Cellular
  • 512GB: $2,020, or as low as $820 with eligible trade-in, with Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and U.S. Cellular
  • 1TB: $2,260, or as low as $820 with eligible trade-in, on unlocked devices

Never traded in a device before? It's a sure way to save money, and it's super easy to do on the product page. Just fill out all the fields under the 'Samsung Trade-in' section, and it will give you an estimated trade-in credit so you can find out how much the phone will cost you before heading to checkout.

Samsung Z Fold6's Coolest Features

As I mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is easily one of the most innovative phones you can buy today. More specifically, if you're deciding between the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 (starting at $1,260 with an eligible trade-in) and this newer version (starting at $700 with an eligible trade-in), the brand says, "At 239 grams, the Galaxy Z Fold6 is lighter and slimmer than Galaxy Z Fold5, making it more pocketable." The new phone also has an upgraded processor, so prepare for better performance all around. So, what's the same? The battery life (4400mAh, which offers up to 77 hours of music listening time or up to 23 hours of video watching), 50-megapixel camera and 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display.

TL;DR? The Galaxy Z Fold6 is lighter, slimmer, smarter and faster than its predecessor. More importantly, it has a *ton* of cool features like Circle to Search with Google, Sketch to Image with Galaxy AI, Photo Assist and Portrait Studio, which can help you complete almost any task and take your user experience to a whole new level. Here are a few of my favorites in action.

Photo Assist and Portrait Studio

Thanks to the Galaxy Z Fold6's 50-megapixel camera and a 10-megapixel 3x optical zoom telephoto camera, there's no question whether your pics will come out looking crisp and vibrant every dang time. As if it couldn't get any better than that, you can use Photo Assist to move, erase *and* enlarge literally anything in a photo using Galaxy AI. Want to erase your ex-boyfriend from your family reunion photos? No problem—it's like he was never even there. Meanwhile, the Portrait Studio feature uses AI to turn your selfies into works of art. No really, if you've ever wanted to see what you'd look like as a cartoon character or sketch (why not?), you finally can.

Circle to Search with Google

If you ask me, Circle to Search is a total game-changer. For instance, if you're traveling, you can take a picture of a food menu in a different language, circle the text you want to translate simply by using your finger and voilà—the menu will appear in the new language you select. (BTW, there are 16 support languages available at this time.) But that's not all this feature can do: If you suck at math (like me), and your kid needs help with their homework, you can also use Circle to Search to find the solution and break down all the steps it takes to get there. No, I'm not kidding. Peep this feature in action in the video above.

Sketch to Image with Galaxy AI

Whether you love doodling or are constantly taking photos, Sketch to Image will take your sketches and pictures to the next level. See above for a demonstration, but basically, this feature brings your drawings to life using Galaxy AI. It works like magic to turn a simple sketch into a totally fleshed-out masterpiece, and can even help transform real-life scenes from your own photos. Trust, this feature's sure to be a hit with the kiddos.

Bottom Line: Should You Buy It?

The Galaxy Z Fold6 is unlike any other phone on the market. As an iPhone 15 Pro owner, I won't lie, there's a bit of a learning curve. But once I got the hang of it, I was hooked. Unlike my iPhone, I could complete almost any task on my Galaxy Z Fold6 without needing another device. With the Live Translate and Interpreter programs, I was able to easily navigate my trip to Paris—it was like having a personal translator in my back pocket. I can keep going on about how impressive it is, from the photo quality to the fun AI features, but you're probably wondering whether or not it's actually worth the dough. In my opinion, it absolutely is, especially while you can save up to $1,200 on it. I definitely don't regret upgrading, and I can bet you won't, either.
