Cheese balls are probably the most delicious appetizer at the party, but let’s be honest, they usually scream “tacky” and “dated.” That’s why we set out to make over the vintage finger food. Presenting the classiest cheese balls that exist: a trio of fromage rolled in gorgeous modern toppings.


Ingredients

Everything Bagel Goat Cheese Ball

8 ounces goat cheese, crumbled

3 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Lemon-Dill Cheddar Cheese Ball

6 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated

4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

¼ cup chopped fresh dill

Zest of 1 lemon

Pomegranate Blue Cheese Ball

6 ounces blue cheese, crumbled

4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature

2 tablespoons honey

⅓ cup pomegranate seeds

Directions

1. Make the Everything Bagel Goat Cheese Ball: In a medium bowl, stir together the goat cheese, chives and olive oil. Use your hands to shape the cheese into a ball. Seal the ball in plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Gently roll the cheese ball in the everything bagel seasoning until it’s completely coated. Return the ball to the refrigerator.

2. Make the Lemon-Dill Cheddar Cheese Ball: In a medium bowl, stir together the cheddar cheese, cream cheese and Dijon mustard. Use your hands to shape the cheese into a ball. Seal the ball in plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. In a medium bowl, combine the dill and lemon zest. Gently roll the cheese ball in the dill mixture until it’s completely coated. Return the ball to the refrigerator.

3. Make the Pomegranate Blue Cheese Ball: In a medium bowl, stir together the blue cheese, cream cheese and honey. Use your hands to shape the cheese into a ball. Seal the ball in plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Gently roll the cheese ball in the pomegranate seeds until it’s completely coated. Return the ball to the refrigerator.

4. To serve, arrange the cheese balls on a platter with plenty of crackers. Serve immediately.
