What do you get when you combine crisp, summery rosé with tangy grapefruit juice? This refreshingly sophisticated cocktail. Just be sure to use a bottle of dry rosé when you make our recipe for grapefruit wine (like this one, recommended by our friends at Taste Wine Co.). And if you really want to live on the edge, add a splash of gin.

Ingredients

⅓ cup sugar

⅓ cup water

1 bottle rosé wine

1½ cups grapefruit juice, preferably freshly squeezed

Ice, as needed for serving

Grapefruit wedges, as needed for serving (optional)

Directions

1. In a small pot, bring the sugar and water to a boil over medium heat. Stir to make sure the sugar dissolves. Let cool to room temperature.

2. In a large pitcher, combine the rosé and grapefruit juice. Add the cooled simple syrup to taste.

3. Fill each glass with ice and then pour the grapefruit wine into each glass. Garnish the glasses with grapefruit wedges, if using.
