Zooey Deschanel Just Debuted a New Hairstyle and She Looks Totally Different

Zooey Deschanel just made a stark change to her signature hairstyle and we can barely recognize her.

The New Girl star, who has been known for her trademark heavy bangs, recently proved to her "doubters" that she can, in fact, switch it up. The 41-year-old actress shared her shocking transformation to Instagram, saying, "For all the doubters..."

The mirror selfie features Deschanel rocking a strong middle part, baring the oft-hidden upper part of her head. Deschanel added text to the photo that reads, "Proof I have a forehead."

If you barely recognize the 500 Days of Summer actress, you're not alone. Part of the reason Deschanel looks so different is because the hairstyle has been a staple of her look since she was very young. In an interview with Glamour in 2013, Deschanel explained, "It all started at age two, when, at my very first haircut, the stylist lopped off the front of my waves into girly, face-framing fringe. I've had bangs for most of my life since."

Deschanel has become so well-known for the full fringe, that a red carpet appearance where her bangs were nowhere to be found spurred a viral meme that said, "Seeing Zooey Deschanel without bangs and glasses, I finally get how nobody knew Clark Kent was Superman."

One fan referenced the meme in the comments section, writing, "it’s almost like when Superman becomes Clark Kent." Another user expressed their amazement at the change in her appearance, saying, "I did not recognize that this was Zooey Deschanel until I looked at the username...."

The comedic actress has expressed that she loves "inspiring women to try new things with their hair." Well, we love to see Zooey embracing a new 'do.
