In a brand-new Instagram post, New Girl star Zooey Deschanel announced that she is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Jonathan Scott, 45, (best known as one of the titular co-hosts of Property Brothers). The 43-year-old actress posted a selfie with Scott, which she captioned: “Forever starts now!!!” She also included two emojis of smiley faces with hearts, as well as an infinity symbol.
The selfie not only included a close-up of Deschanel and Scott smiling with their faces pressed together, but it also gave fans a glimpse at the Elf actress's stunning sparkler.
If you look closely, you can see that the engagement ring is composed of purple and silver stones cut in the shape of flowers. It's unclear how many carats are featured in the diamond band, but we'll be searching tirelessly to find out.
This announcement arrives only days after the couple celebrated their fourth anniversary. Scott commemorated the milestone on August 4, posting a pic with Deschanel to his Instagram, writing, “500 days of @zooeydeschanel …actually it’s been a lot more, but who’s counting anyway? [laughing emoji] 4 years really flies by. Happy anniversary baby!!!”
The 500 Days of Summer star first met Scott while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke: The Series back in August 2019. At the time, Deschanel was in the process of separating from her ex-husband, Jacob Pechenik, with whom she shares two kids—Elsie Otter, 8, and Charlie Wolf, 6. In a joint statement to Us Weekly, the pair said, “After much discussion and a long period of contemplation we have decided we are better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners.”
In October 2019, the She & Him singer made her relationship with Scott public, posting a pic that saw her being held up in his arms. “Still processing how scared I was of these people dressed in spooky masks,” Deschanel's caption read.
