Zendaya’s boyfriend and Spider-Man: No Way Home co-star, Tom Holland, 27, may have grown up across the pond, but this weekend, the 26-year-old actress gave him a taste of her hometown: Oakland, California.
Zendaya Takes Boyfriend Tom Holland to Her Hometown Where They Play Basketball with Students
The pair visited West Oakland Middle School on Friday, August 25, where they hung out with a group of students and checked out a new mural designed by artist Adia Millett. Then, the couple stopped by Lowell Park to see the renovations on a basketball court, which was also painted by Millett.
On her Instagram Story earlier this weekend, the Euphoria actress tagged Project Backboard, a non-profit whose purpose, according to their mission statement, is “to renovate public basketball courts and install large scale works of site-specific art on the surface in order to strengthen communities, improve park safety, encourage multi-generational play, and inspire people to think more critically and creatively about their environment.”
It seems Zendaya may have contributed to the renovation of the Oakland court, as evidenced by the caption of the above post. Photographer Vivid KZ wrote, “Today was all about the kids and community...Thank you @zendaya for the new court.”
“I just came to say ‘hi’ to all of you and see your beautiful faces, and let’s have a great time playing basketball!” Zendaya said to a group of students, per Us Weekly. “Well, I’m not going to play basketball, because I haven’t played basketball since I was young. We’re not gonna do that because I might twist an ankle.” (She did take one shot on the net, though.)
During their time in the California city, the Hollywood couple also visited the headquarters of Oaklandish, a B Corp. focused on “civic pride.”
In a photo shared by the org (which was taken by Zendaya herself), Holland is seen wearing an Oakland Roots T-shirt. In case you're unaware, the Oakland Roots Sports Club are a professional men’s soccer team based in California. It's no wonder Holland chose this shirt given that he's often shown his love of soccer (or as he might call it, football) on social media.
We're glad Tom took the time to visit Zendaya's hometown.
