Zendaya Celebrates Her Golden Globes Win with a Special Tribute to Rue on Instagram

During the 80th annual Golden Globes, Zendaya won her first-ever Golden Globe for her unforgettable performance in the HBO hit series, Euphoria

She took home the golden statue for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Drama category, where she went up against talented contenders such as Emma D’Arcy from House of the Dragon, Laura Linney from Ozark, Imelda Staunton from The Crown and Hilary Swank from Alaska Daily. And in celebration of her monumental win, she dedicated a special message to someone she holds near and dear to her heart: Rue.

The 26-year-old actress shared a never-before-seen photo of her character gleefully dancing in her bedroom. (ICYMI: she plays a teenage girl named Rue Bennett, who struggles with drug addiction on the show.) Even though Zendaya couldn’t attend the awards ceremony last night, she wanted to take a moment to personally thank the Golden Globes for the tremendous honor, as well as her fellow nominees.

“I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to be there tonight, but I just wanted to say thank you to @goldenglobes for this incredible honor,” she wrote in the caption. “To my fellow nominees, it is a privilege to be named beside you, I admire you all deeply.”

The Dune star also wanted to give a special shout-out to the Euphoria cast/crew and express the love she will always have for Rue. “Thank you to my Euphoria family, without you, none of this is possible. Lastly, thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has allowed Rue into theirs. I think everyone knows how much she means to me, but the fact that she can mean something to someone else is a gift. I’m honestly at a loss for words as I type this, all I can say is thank you thank you thank you. Goodnight.”

Her followers went straight to the comments section to congratulate the Euphoria actress on her incredible win. One fan wrote, “So well deserved,” with a bunch of heart emojis. Even her Euphoria co-stars showed their love and support for their fellow cast member in the comments. Maude Apatow (AKA Lexi) said, “CONGRATULATIONS,” with an array of heart emojis. Storm Reid, who plays her younger sister Gia, commented, “So proud of u.”

We are so happy for you, Zendaya. Congratulations on your big win last night!
