Zac Efron Returns to the Halls of ‘High School Musical’ (and Makes a ‘Breakfast Club’ Reference) in New IG Post

The High School Musical film series may have ended back in 2008, but Zac Efron obviously still has fond memories of his Wildcat days. In a new Instagram post, the Baywatch actor revealed that he took a trip back to Salt Lake High School East (AKA East High), the site where the three HSM movies were filmed.

“Don’t you… Forget about me,” Efron wrote in the caption of his post, along with an emoji of a fist. The 34-year-old actor then posed in front of the school with his fist in the air, emulating the iconic moment from the end of The Breakfast Club, where Judd Nelson's character does the same thing (as the song “Don't You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds plays in the background).

Fans showed their love for Efron's surprise visit in the comments, like one user, who referred to Efron by his HSM character name, Troy Bolton, and said, “TROYYY [heart emoji] I will forever love you.” Another fan commented, “GO WILDCATS!” And one person hoped this image meant something more (a reunion special perhaps?), writing, “THIS COULD BE THE START OF SOMETHING NEW YALL.”

It is important to note that Efron isn't the first HSM cast member to return to the school building where it all took place. Just last month, his former co-star, Vanessa Hudgens, shared a video from the front of East High.

She referenced one of her lines from the movie in the caption, writing, “Do you remember in kindergarten how you'd meet a kid and know nothing about them, then 10 seconds later you're playing like you're best friends because you didn't have to be anything but yourself?” In the clip, she walks around in front of the school and throws up peace signs.

Could there be a High School Musical reunion on the way? We'll be keeping our fingers crossed.
