I can say with 100 percent certainty that I’ve never looked to Will Smith for fashion inspiration. Sure, he had some major ‘fits in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and he was pretty cool in Hitch, but he’s not really my type sartorially. So, imagine my surprise when scrolling through Instagram this morning I saw a photo of the 51-year-old actor at the Los Angeles premiere of his upcoming animated film Spies in Disguise in a decidedly chic coat. Upon closer inspection, I realized that his entire look was really good. Like, damn, Will. The catch? I’m not a 6-foot 2-inch tall man. Still, I’m eager to recreate this look with a feminine edge. Here’s how I’ll do it.

1. The Coat
Smith’s coat is the clearly the standout of his ensemble. It’s a mod take on houndstooth, but his was fashioned from tiny shapes of the continent of Africa. The dapper topper, which is from an unknown designer, is thought-provoking and unexpected. And while we haven’t yet identified the exact style he’s wearing, we found a couple of similar jackets.

2.The Sweater
Smith made a subtle power clash play with his black patterned sweater. Although the houndstooth and Fair Isle prints might otherwise clash, the outfit works because they’re both in black and white. Plus, the print of his sweater is subtle enough to make these disparate prints seem complimentary.

3. The Leather Pants
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Leather pants should be a staple in your winter wardrobe. Not only are they dressier than jeans, but they up the cool factor of any outfit and look effortless with a chunky sweater and booties.

Smith added a little extra texture to his ensemble by rocking lace-up chukka boots instead of pull on booties. Needless to say, we’re feeling it. Excuse us while we Big Willy-fy our closet.
