“I don’t date. I don’t have a boyfriend and, you know, it doesn’t mean that I will not find someone in my life. If I do, that would be great. If I don’t, that would still be great because I’m still in love,” the Grammy winner explained.
Who’s she in love with? Her late husband of 22 years, René Angélil, who passed away in 2016 after a battle with cancer. Dion mused, “Once you’re in love, so much—you know, I’ve been living all my life with René. He’s still within me. I see him through the eyes of my children every day. I’m so passionate about life and so lucky to have my three beautiful sons.” Dion shares her 18-year-old son, René-Charles, and 9-year-old twins, Nelson and Eddy, with Angélil.
Cohen responded, “That’s beautiful,” to which Dion added, “You know, I keep everything open. If it happens, I’m not looking for that. I think it’s something that happens that you feel that comes and you feel it. Right now, if I would have someone in my life, I would tell you because I’ve been an open book all my life. But if I do, I’ll come back and I’ll talk to you about it.”
When Cohen asked if she was surprised by rumors that she’s dating her best friend, Pepe Muñoz, she replied “No.” Why? Well, as Dion put it, “He’s my best friend. We have a good time together…He’s gay. Calm down. I’m not trying to hide here but we can hold hands. We can go to the movies and restaurants. Calm down people.”
Well said, Céline. Well said.
