Taylor Swift’s Hairstylist Reveals How to Get Her Shaggy Waves in 3 Steps

Among the many facets of Taylor Swift’s reputation (Cats! Breakup songs! Girl squads!) is her signature haircut and color.

Since she traded in the tight spiral curls of her “Teardrops on my Guitar” era, the 29-year-old multi-Grammy winner has worn her golden blonde hair in a mid-length shag. But, to celebrate the release of her brand-new song “Me!,” Swift mixed things up for her Entertainment Weekly photoshoot with a little help from celebrity hairstylist Riawna Capri of Nine Zero One salon in Los Angeles.

Capri filled PureWow in on how she achieved Swift’s shaggy texture and revamped hairstyle for the ethereal desert shoot.

“This was a such a rad shoot to do with Taylor and Peggy [Sirota, photographer],” Capri explained. “The lighting was insane on set! The pink tips really go with the whimsical mood of ‘Me!’ [They’re] light, fun, awesome and free.”

In addition to giving Swift a fresh chop, highlight and throwing in those pink tips, Capri also styled the musician’s hair in a surprisingly low-fuss way.

So what did she use to elevate Swift’s signature ’do?

Step One: Capri started by prepping the “Reputation” singer’s tresses with Magic Myst ($35).

Step Two: She then curled pieces with “alternate iron sizes from a 1 ¼-inch to a 1-inch.” In addition to iron size, Capri alternated the “direction of [the curls], from left to right.”

Step Three: Once Swift was all done up in waves, Capri asked her to flip her hair upside-down and she scrunched in some more Magic Myst to “get that beautiful texture.”

Is it just us or is that so much simpler and at-home friendly than we expected?
