The black-and-white image definitely caught my eye

Just last week, Prince William welcomed Emperor Naruhito and his wife Empress Masako of Japan (on behalf of his dad, King Charles) upon their arrival to the United Kingdom. Shortly after their meeting, a gorgeous photo taken of the three royals was posted on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s shared Instagram account. But that wasn’t the last we would see of the Prince of Wales that week.

On June 27, Prince William attended the Innovation Showcase at the Breakthrough Energy Summit in London, which brought together leaders and educators who specialize in technology, policy, science, academia and business fields to create resourceful solutions for the climate.

As the founder of the Earthshot Prize, which rewards five recipients based on their efforts to fight climate change, Prince William has been vocal about his mission to protect the environment for quite some time.

In a striking black-and-white photo of the Prince of Wales during the summit, the future king stands alone while looking extremely stoic. He is seen wearing a recycled suit (#savetheenviroment) with a white collared shirt and a floral tie.

This is not the first we’ve seen a photo of the future king with a stoic expression. During this year’s Trooping the Colour, Prince William rode on horseback alongside his aunt and uncle, Princess Anne and Prince Edward. The Prince of Wales was photographed by himself, looking calm and collected in his red uniform, which was adorned with an assortment of gold and silver medals. He also wore a bearskin hat that appeared to cover his eyes completely.

If there’s one thing the prince knows how to do, it’s how to keep calm and carry on.
