Sorry, royal aficionados, but Spencer won’t be honored at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTA).
BAFTA recently released a list of nominations for the upcoming ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, March 13. It didn’t take long for fans to realize that Spencer is noticeably missing from the list. This includes Kristen Stewart, who received zero nods for portraying Princess Diana.
It’s important to note that Spencer’s snub isn’t a massive surprise. As Entertainment Weekly points out, Spencer wasn’t included in very many long lists, which were released last month to tease which titles are being considered for awards. Still, many fans expected Spencer to receive at least one nod.
Instead, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards paid tribute to other popular projects. While Belfast, Don't Look Up, Dune, Licorice Pizza and The Power of the Dog were nominated for Best Film, several other titles received nominations for Outstanding British Film, like After Love, Ali & Ava, Belfast, Boiling Point, Cyrano, Everybody's Talking About Jamie, House of Gucci, Last Night in Soho, No Time to Die and Passing. Dune raked in the most nominations, with 11 nods. (NBD.)
